is the name I use when I find myself in the electronic world of BBSes
and the Internet. Obviously, I have an interest in computers, why else
would I have this Web page? And while I don't do very much in the programming
department, I do enjoy fooling with Desktop Publishing programs, HTML
and medieval-flavoured adventure-type games. Now "fooling" with
DTP programs has become my profession.
Currently my favorite computer-type game is a MUD (Multi-User Dungeon) called "Realms of Despair", where I am best known as Herne. RoD is an interactive AD&D-type multi-player game where one can become a hero in their own mind, along with up to 400 or so other people from all over the world, hacking and slaying the foul monsters to gain fame. Realms is advertised as "Endless Medieval Enjoyment", but they don't go out of their way to be very medieval usually, and is apparently one of the largest MUDs of its type on the Internet today. While still in the "medieval" vein, I have a large interest in the Middle Ages, and the events of that time. I read as much as I can find on the subject, with special interest in Celtic-type things, and I was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (The SCA). I say "was a member" because I've since let my membership go lax, but I continue to lurk within my SCA interests, following events and the SCA newsgroup as best I can. While I was active in The SCA, I was known as "Barin Dun" and gained an AoA (Award of Arms - Which means I have the right to be called "Lord") under this name before I changed to "Berenger Dun" to avoid some misunderstanding, as various people thought I might be calling myself a "Baron" which is a no-no unless one has earned that right. My other interests include a love of camping especially in Algonquin Park in Ontario, an interest in creative writing, reading (devouring) Science Fiction and Fantasy novels, and an overactive imagination. |
