The number 666 has many different interpretations, while its "significance" has been acknowledged for thousands of years. The most common one, is of course Biblical, from the Revelation 13:18, where it is stated that 666 is the "number of the beast". Letters of the Greek, Hebrew and Latin alphabets in peoples names could be added up according to a certain formula. Jesus name in Greek is 888. Thus the number 666 is explained as follows: 777 is the perfect number and 888 means Christ or each unit of 7 augmented by 1, then 666, or each unit of 7 lessened by 1, is the number of the Antichrist. Popes miter that has "Vicarivs Filii Dei" ("Vicar of the Son of God") written on it or Julius Caesars name, could be coded as 666, in a similar fashion. Other meanings include the Zodiac: the priests of the Babylonian religion had 12 houses, 3 rooms in each house, and one god in each room. The addition of numbers (gods) 1 to 36 turns out to be 666, which the priests called the mystery god, or the sun.
