Get Involved in Oakville's 2007 Earth Week Clean Up

SOUTH WEST OAKVILLE
1. Lakeshore Woods
Meet at the “round” at Creekpath Avenue and Great Lakes Boulevard at 10:30 AM. Please RSVP attendance to brent.mcknight@gmail.com, (905) 465-1172.
2. Bronte Bluffs Park
Begin the clean up of Bronte Harbour greenspaces at Bronte Bluffs Park on West River Street.
3. Petro-Canada Park
Enter off the west side of Bronte Road, north of Bridge Road to clean up this lovely floodplain eco-community.
4. Hopedale Park
Meet behind Hopedale Mall off of Tansley Drive.
5. Brook Valley Park
A gorgeous urban park off of Warminster Drive, south of Bridge Road.

SOUTH CENTRAL OAKVILLE
1. Old Oakville at GO Station
Clean up the shores of the mighty 16 Mile Creek at Hogs Back Park. Meet at the Queen Mary Street Bridge over Speers Road. This and other local parks will be staffed by members of the West River Residents Association.
2. Lakeside Park, Downtown
Meet the Oakville Lakeside Residents and members of St. Judes Anglican Church at Lakeside Park on Navy Street to clean up the shores of Lake Ontario.

SOUTH EAST OAKVILLE
1. Clearview
Meet at Clearview Park for a community-wide clean up and enjoy a hot-air balloon ride sponsored by Remax and the Clearview Oakville Community Alliance (COCA).
2. Maple Valley Park
Neighbours are meeting at Maple Avenue and Bohemia Crescent.
3. Dunvegan Park
Start the clean up of Joshua Valley Creek from this park on Cornwall Road behind Maple Grove Village.


NORTH WEST OAKVILLE
1. Bronte Creek Provincial Park
Gather at the south entrance to Ontario’s largest urban park on Burloak Drive, north of the QEW. Staffed by The Friends of Bronte Creek.
2. Nottinghill Park
Start at Nottinghill Park for a fun clean up of the fabulous trails along the Taplow, Glen Oak, and McCraney Creeks. It is staffed by Oakvillegreen.
3. Taplow Creek at Aldercrest Trail
Gather at Aldercrest Park which is located near the intersection of Pilgrims Way and Nottinghill Gate. Loyala High School students can pitch-in here.
4. Glen Oak Creek Trail
Meet at the Monastery Drive Mall to clean up both the north and south portions of this beautiful trail.
5. West Oak Trails, Proudfoot Trail
Clean up the scenic Sixteen Mile Creek Trail.
6. Indian Ridge Trail
Join members of the South Peel Naturalists’ Club across from Dorval Mall on Lindsay Drive. This is a beautiful place to enjoy bird-watching.

7. Arbourview Trails

Help clean up the trails next to Arbourview Drive.

NORTH CENTRAL OAKVILLE
1. River Oaks Recreation Centre, Sixth Line
Join the River Oaks Residents Association to clean up the Munn’s Creek Trail. Meet at Rec Centre on Sixth Line.
2. Shannon Creek Trail at River Glen Blvd.
People living on Marlatt Drive and Callaghan Crescent can join their neighbours for a fun clean up of their Trails.
3. Heritage Trail at River Glen Blvd.
Meet at the Parkette on Riverbank Way to clean up Trails from River Glen Boulevard to Dundas Street.
4. Trails, west of Neyagawa Boulevard
Join the Oakville Running Club and meet at the Rotherglen School parking lot to clean up the Trails around Osenego Creek.
5. College Park
Meet in the White Oaks Secondary School North parking lot to clean up the creeks and forests of College Park.They are so beautiful!
6. Countryside Clean Up, Fourth Line and Burnhamthorpe Road West
Meet at the high school to tidy up some country roads.

NORTH EAST OAKVILLE
1. Glenashton Drive Bridge
Meet between Eighth Line & Trafalgar at this Bridge to clean up the beautiful Morrison Valley North, on both sides of Glenashton Drive. Staffed by Trafalgar Presbyterian Church members. Oakville Phoenix soccer team will be here.
2. Greenspace, Glenashton & Trafalgar
Lots of garbage blows in here so come out and pitch-in.
3. Algrove Park at White Oaks Boulevard
Clean up the green spaces of Morrison Valley South. This location is sponsored by Councillor Tom Adams.
4. Iroquois Ridge, Falgarwood Pool
Clean up the greenspaces by gathering at the Falgarwood Pool on Grosvenor at Gainsborough Drive.
5. Pondview Place, off of Morrison Creek
The neighbourhood did a wonderful job last year to protect an important local environmental feature.
6. Winston Woods
At Plymouth Drive, sponsor Print Infinity encourages all employees working in the Winston Park area to pitch-in.

TWO NEW LOCATIONS FOR CLEAN UP ON EARTH DAY

“As the local coordinators for Earth Day Canada and for Pitch-In Canada, we are very pleased to announce additional clean up sites for Earth Week 2007, on SUNDAY, APRIL 22, remarked Stephen Dankowich, executive director of the Oakville Community Centre For Peace, Ecology And Human Rights (OCCPEHR).

“We are working with the 24th Girl Guides of Oakville to clean up McCraney Valley Park on SUNDAY, APRIL 22 from Noon to 2:30 PM. Meet at the Trinity United Church parking lot,” said Mr. Dankowich.

“As well, we are encouraging people to join Ontario Streams on a garbage clean up on the Fourteen Mile Creek which will conserve and restore fish habitat for the provincially threatened redside dace,” he added.

“Now, people can help clean up at 29 nature sites on SATURDAY, APRIL 21 from 9 AM to Noon and at 2 nature sites on Earth Day, S SUNDAY, APRIL 22, he concluded.
