THEATRE CALGARY MUSICAL AUDITIONS
Theatre Calgary's Musical Auditions will take place Monday, April 15th and Tuesday, April 16th, 2002 in Calgary.
The name of the musical has not been announced yet. The annoucement will take place on March 27th, and will be on our website
( www.theatrecalgary.com ) on the 27th at 8:00pm MST.
The auditions will be individual auditions followed by dance calls.
REQUIREMENTS:
- All types of voices are required, but all women must be able to sing to a top G. A "pop-rock" piece that showcases the singer's range is recommended but not required. Legit with a "rock-edge" is acceptable as well. A piano accompanist will be provided. Tim French will be the Director/Choreographer, and Stephen Woodjetts will be the Musical Director.

- Female: character age range 20 - 35. Height 5' 2" - 5' 8". Dynamic actor/singer.
Movement/dance ability a plus. Voice must have no strong break between lower and upper register.
- Female: character age range 16-25. Singer/Actor. Youthful vocal quality.
Even mix from lower to upper range (no strong break). Open colour casting.
All men must sing to a G (mandatory), and a B flat (optional)
- Male: character age range 30-45. Height 5' 7'' and up. Baritone. Strong, dramatic
singer/actor.
- Male: character age range 25-35. Dynamic singer/actor. High Baritone or tenor.
Pop/rock quality. Diverse casting.
- Male: character age range 25-35. High baritone singer/actor. Nightclub singer.
Diverse casting.
- Adult Ensemble of 19: Strong singer/actor/dancers. All vocal ranges.
Dancers must have good singing voices. Diverse casting. Some ensemble will understudy leads. Character age range 20-50.
- Child Ensemble of 3: Character age range 9-12. Good singers. Young sopranos or boy sopranos.

The Great Canadian Theatre Company will be holding Equity auditions for When All the Slaves are Free, The Words and Music of Joni Mitchell, Conceived and Directed by Bryden MacDonald. Production dates are September 12 to September 29, 2002.
GCTC is looking to cast a female singer, aged 35-55 with extensive singing experience and a background in Jazz. Ability to read music is preferred, but not required. Preparation required is a contemporary Jazz or R&B vocal piece and an accapella piece. Please bring in sheet music or your own accompanist. There will be an accompanist at the audition if needed.

GRAFFITI THEATRE ON SALTSPRING ISLAND BC are holding general auditions for Equity and non-Equity actors for their 2002 season:

The Company: Now in its fifth year, Graffiti Theatre has offered eight productions on Saltspring Island to professional standards utilizing island talent as well as Equity actors and directors from the Vancouver and Nanaimo area.
The Production: Colleen Winton will be directing William Shakespeare's "The Merry Wives of Windsor" for Graffiti and "Festival Artspring" on sunny Saltspring Island in July for a short run in August.

Procedure for Auditions
All auditions for the Stratford Festival of Canada are by appointment only.
The audition tour for 2002 commences in March. Auditions for 2002 will be
held in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, St.
John's and Chicago.
Selected applicants should have prepared audition pieces consisting of:
Two contrasting classical monologues, of which one must be in verse; no more
than two minutes per piece;
One contemporary monologue; no more than two minutes.
Applicants should be prepared for a callback audition on the day immediately
following their scheduled time. If scheduled for Toronto, callbacks will be
held within three weeks of the initial audition.
Candidates who complete the 2002 Conservatory will be offered positions in
the 2003 acting company.
