Make sure that the phone wire directly from the
wall is connected to the
phone jack of the modem. Then connect an
actual phone directly to the
phone jack of the modem.
Lift up the phone’s handset and see if
there is a dialtone.
If you have call waiting enabled, please clear
all messages and disable it using *70,
before the number you are about to dail.
Go to the System icon found in Control panel.
Click on the Device manager tab.
Click on modem and then highlight the modem
installed in your system.
Click on Properties. Then click on Connection.
Take the checkmark off of Wait for dialtone before
dialing.
Go into your Bios menu by rebooting, upon bootup
when it asks you to press
a specific key (usually DEL) to enter Setup or
Bios press it. Go to
Chipset Features Setup and look on OnChip USB
and USB keyboard support.
Make sure both of those are enabled. Save
and exit.
Obtain the latest driver from www.amquestmodem.com
for your modem and it is
installed properly.
Obtain the latest motherboard drivers from the
motherboard manufacturer’s
website. (If you motherboard has
a VIA chipset, you can go to www.via.com.tw
where you will find the IRQ routing fix for this
motherboard’s problems.
Go to the System icon found in Control panel.
Click on the Device manager tab.
Click on modem and then highlight the modem
installed in your system. Click on
Properties. Then click on Connection.
Take the checkmark off of Wait for dialtone before
dialing. |
