Make sure you are connected to a local server. The further the server the longer it takes for the information to reach and come back. Therefore increased times. If you have a PCI software based modem then your times will be higher than that of an ISA modem. The reason being that Amquest PCI modems are Host controlled by the CPU. Meaning the modem runs most of its processes through the CPU. Due to this, there is a delayed time for the information to travel and process through the CPU before it reaches the modem. For people who are heavy into games, or require extremely high ping times, we would suggest that you try obtaining a hardware based ISA modem.
