This page is fully dedicated to true heavy metal bands. I put heavy metal next to classical music and support the idea that Bach and Pagganini were first Heavy Metal composers. Today there are three main movements in true heavy metal:

Yngwie J Malmsteen is definitily the best guitarist of our century, hid style is neoclassical heavy metal, classical music . Many great thing can be said about his music, it ranges from Jimmy Henrix to JS Bach.
His style cannot be explained, just listen to it and enjoy.

Russian guitar virtuoso.
First his song I heard on the television and I thought that He was Yngwie Malmsteen. It was a neoclassical metal version of 24th capris of Nicolo Paganini. Although he does not write his own classical compositions, those that he play are really great improvised for guitar.
Best Albums: "Mix No. 1" - GET IT!!! although songs are in russian you will enjoy it.

Manowar
American Heavy Metal Band inspired by Celtic Mythology
Celtic themes, ancient heroes, battles for glory, Thor's hammer, battle hymns - how does it sounds? Sounds great - then you will love this band (I didn't believed they are americans, so eroupeian the sound) this is the only band that always keeps to the same style. For many, their songs are evil and calling up for violence, however they are signing about bravery and fighting against the evil. Their music actually is a light heavy metal, not serious but ok, when you tired from standard classical heavy metal.
Best Albums: "Kings of Metal", "Louder Than Hell" - Cool music
A really great song on "The Triumph of The Steel" album - "Master of The Wind"

I don't know much about this band and I heard only one of their songs. What can I assure, that they are really good. However all of Virgin discontinued production of their albums and I cannot get any of them (actually, there are 2 of them)

King Diamond
Darkest Dutch Heavy Metal Band
A very interesting project Mircyful Fate, became known to the world as one of the most significant dark heavy metal groups under the nickname of it's vocalist - King Diamond. Each one of their albums is a new horror story illustrated with perfect gothic music by Andy La Rocque and Michael Denner, with all the vocals (yes, all of them) by King Diamond. The style of this band is different from other band of this style, from death metal, the are turning now more to the neoclassical metal improvisation thanks to Andy.
If you like horror stories in cold winter evening you will love this band
Best album: "The Eye" - Buy it! It is the best of King Diamond, all songs are perfect and have a lots of gothic neoclassical themes by Andy La Rocque.

Iron Maiden
One of the most popular metal bands from UK
Although many of I.M. fans think that the first years of the band were actually the best example of band's creativity, my opinion is that the last albums of Iron Maiden deicated most to the heavy metal history. Started as death metal band, they turned to classical metal at the end of their career. Their music became much more serious and from the satanistic themes of the first years they turned to peace and philosophy.
