Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Highlanders
GLENGARRIAN
April 29, 1998
From: Administration Company
Their has been several changes in Administration Company since the last time that the
Glengarrian was published:
As of 1 Jan 98, Administration Clerks and Finance Clerks have combined trades to become
Resource Management Clerks. The Administration capbadge has been retired and replaced
with the Logistics capbadge.
We had the Ice Storm 98 (Op Recuperation) which saw several of our members get
quality experience in the maintenance and supply trades. Our tradesmen also projected a good
light into the community in spreading the supply and service contracts locally so everyone
benefited. I have heard good reviews in this aspect. Our medical section gained knowledge
of what they were short and have since put in for the shortages.
After Op Recuperation we had a split of our company to better serve the chain of
command. Transport, Maintenance, Medics and Supply stayed with the company and the new
Resource Management Clerks became part of Battalion Headquarters with direct lines to the DCO
and Adjt. We also lost Capt Montpetit (our OC) to OIC Armouries and several other secondary
jobs. At present our company has one Captain, one MWO, several Cpls and Ptes.
The army now only has two uniforms of the day, combats and the green DEU (Distinctive
Environmental Uniform). Gone are the Tan DEU uniforms and the Garrison Dress Uniform. The
message has come out that the individual is to dispose of them on their own. We now are no
longer authorized to wear our ICS (Individual Combat Skills) badges. The CF supplier of combat
clothing cloth has gone bankrupt. NDHQ and other CF units (Air and Navy) are now wearing
combat clothing. With these changes our combat clothing is getting scarce. It would be a bad time
to exchange your combats as we are having a hard time to clothe our own new batch of 50 plus
recruits. Some will have to wait to get a second set of combats. Good news is we will be getting
new combat clothing with a disruptive pattern of Canadian invention, which is less visible from
current technology, but the bad news is not until the year 2005.
From all of us in Administration Company we wish you a safe and relaxful summer,
because we will be going full blast coming the fall. For those of you on course, do your best, keep
at it and you will succeed.
