Industrial Designer, born in 1946. A graduate of the Ontario
College of Art, Industrial Design Programme. (AOCA - 1970).
Over the next 6 years, worked as a consultant industrial
designer with Robin Bush Associates, and as staff designer for
Cooper Canada Ltd. and the Victoria National Museum in Ottawa.

After winning a Design Canada Scholarship, moved to England to complete a Master Degree in Industrial Design at Birmingham Polytechnic, 1977. During the following year worked as an industrial designer for the Lund Usher Design Group in England on capital and business equipment. While in England lectured on Industrial Design at Wolverhampton Polytechnic. Returning to Canada in 1978, taught Industrial Design at Georgian College, in Barrie, Ontario.

Hired as Senior Industrial Designer, in 1980 at NCR Canada Ltd. in Waterloo. Responsible for the design of Item Processing Equipment including the management of a six person design team which included industrial design, human factors and material engineering personnel.

In 1988 joined Axis Group Inc. as Vice President and partner, becoming President of Axis Group International in 1998.

A Past President of the Association of Charted Industrial Designers of Ontario from 1992 to 1995 and past Director of ACID - Association of Canadian Industrial Designers. Mr. Mahler started teaching Industrial Design at the Ontario College of Art and Design in 1992 and became a Full Professor in 2002.

For his contribution to the development of the visual arts in Canada, Harry Mahler was elected an academician of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA) in 1994.
