Tools



Designers learn and tend to believe that their job is
to design tools. Tools achieve a stated function.
Webster's Dictionary defines them as "an implement
for manual work; an instrument for achieving any purpose."

Tools are implements that serve to satisfy the physiological
and safety needs of the user.

Tools are readily recognised because they have remained
consistent throughout the ages; many of them are rooted
in antiquity and little has changed since their invention.
