ToolToy Appearance

ToolToy forms are appealing for their simplicity, which makes
them easily understood and appreciated by the viewer. Like
toys, ToolToys avoid unnecessary visual complexity.

Another part of the visual attraction of ToolToys comes from
the replication of the forms of childhood toys. For most users,
these forms will be based on the circle, rectangle or triangle,
which were once the shapes easiest to generate in traditional
wood or sheet metal toys.

As consumers who grew up with plastic toys mature, form
preferences are changing to reflect the shape of plastics,
which for ease of both manufacturing and for use and comfort
avoid straight edges. Preference for the rounded curves of
large plastic toys can be seen already in tape decks, cameras
and cars, and other tools with toy-like uses.
