ToolToy and the Corporation

An individual designer may indulge in intuitive artistic
'hunches' in the hope of finding success. The corporate
designer must conform to expectations over the final product,
and be prepared to address and justify every aspect of
its conception.

Product development is too costly to risk failure. For this reason,
corporate management generally ensures that its design
concepts are thoroughly reviewed by engineering, marketing
and management at every step: Are the adopted design
assumptions valid? Have any new attitudes among users
been investigated?

Corporations must constantly keep abreast of new trends,
avoiding the temptation to mindlessly pursue only what
succeeded in the past.

If a manufacturer
trivialises or ignores the emotional needs of
users
it will fail to meet the competitive challenge of the new
multi-use products offered by competitors.

ToolToy offers a new terminology for discussion of a broad range
of fresh issues within the corporation.
