Ifju Szivek folk dance ensemble from Bratislava, Slovakia

A Magical Journey Through Central Europe's Music and Dances by the Ifju
Szivek ("Young Hearts") and the Figur Banda (Figur Band) Hungarian Folk Ensemble from Pozsony, Slovakia

Featuring the authentic traditions of Hungarian, Slovak, Romanian and Gypsy
villages. Showcasing the fabulous Hungarian dancers and musicians of the official
ensemble of the Hungarian minorities in Slovakia.

Shevchenko Musical Ensemble Proudly Presents "Mandolins of the World"

A spectacular celebration of the mandolin and its musical cousins in a variety of international styles. Featuring four great artists:

Toronto Mandolin Orchestra (Ukrainian, Russian, Classical Music)
Beyond the Pale (Klezmer and East European Folk Music)
Skitnice Tambura Ensemble (Croatian Folk Music)

Tanchaz with Kodaly Ensemble

A live band (Black Earth Ensemble) will be playing music. Tanchaz is where people basically get up and dance and improvise to the music, based on the dialect being played. For beginners, we will also be having teaching circles where members of our
ensemble will conduct informal teaching of basic steps for each dialect played.

Line up of dialects:
Dunantuli - from Western Hungary - jumping dance, slow & fast csardas
Szeki - dance from Transylvania which includes slow and fast csardas, foursome circle dance & polka
Gomori - dance from southern Slovakia - near Hungarian border
Kalotaszegi - dance from central Transylvania
Moldvai - circle dances from Moldva - Romania
Szatmari - recruiting dance, slow and fast csardas from North Western Hungary
Mezosegi - spinning dance from the plains for Transylvania
