Do You Have a Silent Partner?

Happy New Year! We have all made it over the Millenium hurdle safe and sound, and we are ready to play Blackjack for another 1000 years. There is no doubt that there will be new approaches to beating the game using high technology computer simulations that can be converted into playing strategies. These skills can help make us excellent at what we do: make money playing Blackjack. Is there more to being successful than just technical perfection, math, and money?

Many successful people have motivated themselves beyond what would seem humanly possible. How have they done this? We have all heard the saying "Behind every great man there is a......." Being content can give a man peace and confidence to do many many things. As a man ages and he sees more of life, he learns what and who can be depended on to give the strength to beat the circumstances sent his way. Having the positive expectation from counting cards is a beginning, having a "silent strength" to go with it completes the picture.

There are many good books on the power of positive thinking, positive imaging, the phrases are all quite similar. The idea is much much older. The most familiar method of positive imaging is prayer; prayer to Jesus Christ. Jesus is my silent partner. All of the strength that I have that goes beyond human expectation comes from Him. I think it is only fair to tell you my secret to success.

Mark 11:24 states "What ever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received, it and it will be yours." Matthew 17:20 says "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain 'Move from here to there' and it would move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Very powerful words. I am so convinced that what I pray for will come to be, I am very careful of what I pray for. If I can believe in what I can do, how much more so can I believe in something so much more powerful?

Many people today have turned to more "exciting" forms of powers beyond the physical. Why? Because they have never taped into the type of power I am talking about. Granted, many people are looking for some way of hurting others or themselves, and Jesus just doesn't cut it there. Although he has taken care of people who have harmed or tried to harm me in some very unique ways, I don't get to do much more than watch. Other well meaning souls that are interested in helping people may have the right idea, but the wrong way.

I encourage you to tap into your "Silent Partner" Jesus Christ. Don't be surprised how your whole life becomes ordered and successful if you begin to follow Him. Click the picture and get to know Him better if you are interested.

Building Your Counting Skills

For the last few months I have not been focusing on the hard math of counting cards. There is a lot of great information on the Internet on the subject, and I have excused myself from writing about it for this reason. It's the same excuse I have for not writing my knowledge into a book: "There are so many great ones already in print." Well, it's time for a change.

One of the most important questions a counter has to answer is: "Which count should I use?" Since all of the people s/he will be asking this question have chosen their prefered count, they will normally suggest that count. I am going to do the same, and try to explain why, as well as how to take the steps to get there.

Each card has a value relative to who it gives the advantage to, and by how much. The small cards help the dealers, and the large cards help the players. The small cards are given a + value and the large cards a - value.

The most effective simple count gives the 23456 cards a value of +1 and the 10JQKA cards a value of -1. Many excellent counters stick with this count, the Hi/Low, for good. The only thing I don't like about this count is that it exempts the 7 from the count, and it is worth almost as much as the 2 card is. I wanted a way to include the 7 in the count.

While I was reading Million Dollar Blackjack, I found a count that was as powerful as the Uston APC which gave cards values of between +3 and -3 which would include the 7 in the count. This count is called the Hi Opt II. 2367 are +1, 45 are +2, 10JQK are -2. Ace's are ignored or counted only to increase or decrease bet sizes, not play decisions. Today, when I play 1 or 2 deck, I count the Ace's on the side. When I play 6 or 8 deck, I count the Ace's as -1, and this count is called the Unbalanced Zen. Ace side counting is less effective against multi-deck, so the Unbalanced Zen is perfect.

To get started, I would stick with the Hi/Low count. There is so much info on this count, you can't go wrong using it as a starting point. Once you get this count down if you feel the need for a more powerful count, make a move to the Hi Opt II, or Unbalanced Zen with the Ace's included.
