Cover Acts

Recently I came across a posting in the Blackjack newsgroup that I thought was most interesting. I asked the writer if I could use it, and got a "yes" providing his name was not used, and I created my own way of stating what he said. The original writer had written: "Now, if your act is that good, you will be mistaken as an idiot when spliting 10s. I have never been able to develop an act that appears foolish, although I have tried. I never was a very good actor."

The reply was simple: "Basically act like other people in the casino." Take a look around you at what every one else is doing. I have always went into a casino with one thing in mind: Card Counting. I have never really gone for the fun of it, and like most counters can stick out with my attitude. Included in his message was a long list of things you should do to look like everyone else. How can I say what he has said any better?

Show emotion lots of it
Wear silly tee shirts
Ask basic questions
Ask the dealer how he would have played the hand
Claim to be born lucky
Order lots of drinks

Talk about (everyone knows you can't count and talk)
Your luck/unluck at slots/Keno/roulette/Big Six
The weather
The buffet
The buffet at some other casino
A Fat person at the buffet
Is it true that if you paly enough you can eat at the buffet for free
Compare comps to a discover card
What the free shampoo did to your hair
How neat it is to get free drinks
How amazing the casino is
How can the casino exist if everyone is winning so much money
How close you came to hitting the big one at slots/Keno/roulette/Big Six
Your lucky number's/cards
An Asian Gambler with lots on money
Crabby Old ladies playing Keno/Slots
Why are there are no clocks
Where is the bath room
What are those black things in the ceiling
How does a shuffle master work
How *exciting* it must be to play blackjack all day long as the dealer
All the weird slang at the craps table. (make a joke around the word "come")
The weird people at the craps table
The John Patrick Craps system
What it would be like to have a winning system
Especially a progression, because it is so easy
How wrong betting makes the table go cold
High stakes slot machines
Talk about how you can play for as much money at the BJ table
What you would do if you hit such a machine
The side bet at CS poker

And especially claim an unshakable belief in the maturity of chances, after a poor streak (unfavorable count) claim that a good streak is bound to happen (favorable count). as soon as you feel your good luck (favorable count) coming on; increase your bets and talk about why you are doing so.

If a player knew when NOT to Surrender and took the players hand for 50% of their bet when they wanted to throw in the towel, this is a great advantage. I would avoid buying a play where the bettor is making the right decision since you will be buying into a largly disadvantaged hand.

Whales: Large Cash, Shiver Me Timbers!

Whales. Large peaceful mammals that roam the sea peacefully. What do you get when you bring a whale to the desert? A large beastie creature with loads of cash that drinks like a large fish, eats like a killer whale, with tokes the size of the average man's yearly income. Take a high roller and multiply his action a hundred fold and you're getting close to a whaling expedition. Green Peace beware!

Who ARE these guy? What makes them come out to gamble? Basically they are just your average male with surplus amounts of money that likes to play casino games. Take a look at the top five whales that we know of.

Let's begin with number 5:

Jerry Buss (Los Angeles Lakers Top Man) Loves a party, and sometimes they're all night long. Before the lights are turned off at his Hollywood Laker Forum you're apt to see Jerry and 2 to 3 of his favorite "Laker Girls" at any of the top casinos on the Las Vegas strip. You'll not see this High Roller with just any ordinary women. Drop dead number "Tens," can hold ones eyes glued while Jerry moves around from game to game. Baccarat, Pai Gow Poker, and Black Jack. He'll play high, dances and parties all night long. This gentlemen from Tinsel Town could teach Keith Richards (Rolling Stones) a few tricks.

Number 4: The Prince, Saudi type.

Perfect gentlemen. Plays single-zero roulette (European) A $1,000 dollars progressive. Largest piece bet is $40,000. If he hits, the payoff is $396,000. That's always good for $20,000 (Tip) for the dealers.

Number 3: Larry (Hustler Magazine) Flynt.

Here's a true blue riverboat gambler who can really send it in, and his stamina is equal to a champion thoroughbred. Flies in on his private G-9 custom super jet with his bodyguard and an occasional friend or two. He's been clocked at 16 straight hours on a BJ table. 3-hands, $10,000 a hand. Seldom speaks, mostly just hand motions. Although CBS's 48 Hours featured Mr. Flynt winning $1 million at the LV Hilton, they did not follow up with the LV Hilton vs. Larry Flynt to recoup the $3.2 million he allegedly lost in 2 months. Next, Caesar's Palace vs. Larry Flynt for $2.5 million in markers that was in dispute and contested. He then switched over to the Rio Suites and continued to play sky high. Word has it that Larry finally determined, "The right side of the counter is behind the counter." This gentlemen publisher and mega millionaire is building a $30 million dollar poker (casino) parlor in Gardena, CA.

Number 2: Kamel Nacif.

The Levi's King of Mexico. Credit and cash, Senor Nacif generally hits Sin City 6 to 10 times a year and has been known to place 4 to 5 million dollars (not pesos) on deposit. Strictly a Baccarat player with his max bet at $160,000 per hand. Plays fast; generally considered to be intimidating. More than one dealer has found out the hard way by running afoul of Kamel for various reasons. Dealers are expendable, Casino Whales, that's a different story. Rumored to have been playing with an Asian player who was drawing the game out by bending the Four Corners of the cards. Lost his patience and walked across the table and kicked the hustler. In the early 1990's, he and a partner who since was killed in a Mexican standoff in Mexico won between 18 and 22 million. That's an awful lot of Tacos or Levi's. This caused Henry Gluck, CEO of Caesar's World to publicly state that their estimated earnings would be substantially less than expected.

Number 1: Kerry Packer.

Undisputed Champion anywhere on this planet goes to Mr. Kerry Packer from down under, Kingsland, Australia. Never has been anyone one like this gentlemen Ausie, and 5 will get you 10 there never will be! He plays to the individual casinos limit. Minimum play $150,000 a hand on Baccarat, and when he moves over to the 21 pit he takes all six spots at $75,000 equaling $450,000 per hand. Several of the casinos have extended $100,000 for travel reimbursement upon arrival. The casinos go further than that in an attempt to nail the worlds largest "Whale."If he loses the casino returns 10%! If not for the fact that he tokes (tips) beyond your imagination I would be inclined to offer him a 50-50, or very close to it. How about $1 million plus to a cocktail waitress, not just once, but several times. The dealers, all 3 shifts have been known to receive several million dollars when he happens to run up a score. Kerry takes special care of everyone. From car hikers to housemaids, porters and bus boys the amounts are staggering. This gent also plays (bets) on football. Generally from $300,000 to $500,000 per game. Now that's some kind of a man, and he's for real. You can bet on it! How would you like to be a good looking chick and run smack into the Champ? Could be equal to winning the Lottery!

A Single Deck Online Blackjack Game

I am always looking for some form of beatable game. I came across a single deck game which appears to have good rules. Dealer stands on all 17's, double any first two cards, and split any first two cards. You can split up to four hands. This game is found at the topdeckcasino.com. You can play from $1-$100 or $5-$500. The deck is shuffled after each hand, so you only get to use your two cards and the dealer up card to come up with a count. In this case, you will only use the count to vary your play with indices. It's the best opportunity I have seen yet on the net for Blackjack players to be able to use their skill. It's like playing Video Blackjack in Las Vegas.

Free Gambling Magazines!

A few weeks ago I was asked if I would like to offer free magazines to the people that came to my site. As long as they were gambling related, I said "Sure, why not?" I have found these four magazines of interest and want to offer them to you.
Casino Player Atlantic City Insider Midwest Gaming & Travel DoubleDown

They offer you three months to review them with the hope you will like them enough to take a subscription at a VERY reduced rate. Otherwise, you just call them to cancel before the 90 days is up and you are off the hook. I've ordered each of these magazines so far and looking forward to receiving them in the mail.
