March Break Blackjack
Thousands of young people will be set loose this month going on their well deserved
March Breaks. Florida is usually over run with sun worshippers and the resulting craziness.
If you're a counter and have not thought about using your break for a trip to Las Vegas,
maybe it is time to do so. The trip is probably cheaper, and you will be paving the way
for air only flights later on it the summer when the temperature in Las Vegas hits 40C.
Finding Private Games Near Home
Most private games don't have a clue about card counting. Some may use
as little as one deck! Others use multiple decks but make the fatal mistake
of dealing down to the last cards allowing for some awesome end play. Like
to get in on these games? I thought so.
There are two ways I have found successful in finding private games to play.
One way is finding out where they are held from time to time. Arenas and
community centres often have rooms you can rent for private parties, and they
often have games to play that help fund the occasion. A few words with the
people that work at these places can often turn up a game or two.
Another way is to speak to the operators of party supply centres that rent
Blackjack tables out. This information is worth money, so don't forget to
offer a decent sum for these tips. You may end up playing the best Blackjack
games of your life!
Progressions and Positive Expectation
All games have a fixed mathematical advantage built into them in favour of the house.
Mathematicians have proven that betting systems or progressions can't wipe this fact out. People that
try to sell these numerous betting systems and progressions will tell you otherwise and try to
part you from your money with their "new" product. Blackjack Pro is dedicated to pointing
these systems out to you. But what happens when we find a game that has positive expectation
at times? Everything these systems try to do can be achieved with a little understanding of
bankroll and % advantage.
When we count cards, we know when to bet minimum and when to increase our bets. This
is because we can calculate our advantage. This can often be a few percentage points,
and if we increase our bets to the same percentage as our bankroll, we are taking a
very small risk. Within this safe area, we can use progressions to pluck chips off the table
and methodically increase our bets in ways many gamblers do providing cover for our
counting plays. This idea is being studied in depth and applied in local casinos, as well
as with computer simulations of the game of Blackjack to provide both theoretical and
real world results. Stay tuned!
