Advanced Sales on John May's Book

The rush is on to buy John May's latest book called " Get the Edge at Blackjack ". Published by Frank Scoblete, and available on September 15, 2000, a certain online book store has already ordered more copies to fill the need of hungry counters and advantage players. "There is information that has never before appeared in print in a mainstream book and there is some information that has never appeared anywhere except in the secret world inhabited by a handful of elite professional blackjack players", Frank writes. Stay tuned for my review of this 160 paged book. I will notify everyone when my review is done. Click the pic to see reviews at Amazon.com.

Excerpt From My Coming Book

I am presently in the midst of writting a full sized book on Blackjack, card counting, and advantage playing of this game. One of the greatest new ways of advantage play is card sequencing. Here is a piece from the chapter of my book that deals with this subject. I am releasing this piece so there is no confusion of where it came from, and to wet your appetite for more advantage play!

To show you how this can help us, go grab your six practice decks. Take the odd coloured deck out and keep it separate. Go through each deck and take out the Ace of Spades and put them in a pile. Now go through and take out another card, say the Queen of Hearts and place these cards on top of the Ace pile. Take these twelve cards and put them into the top half of the odd coloured deck. Take another deck off the other five decks and place it beside the odd coloured deck. Pick up each deck and shuffle them together.

If you have a perfect shuffle (riffle or interleave) there will be one card between each Queen of Hearts and each Ace of Spades. This will seldom happen, so there will be no cards between, one, two, three cards, or more. They will be at the top of these two decks and will be in order, a sequence. Take the top deck off and shuffle with the bottom deck once more. This will change the number of cards between the Queens and Aces, not their order. Take these two decks and place them in the middle of the other four decks.

The odd coloured deck is easy to spot in the midst of the other five decks. We have shuffle tracked the area our sequence is in, and know when to start looking for the Queens of Hearts. Begin dealing cards out. You can begin just ahead of where the odd coloured deck is to save time. You will begin to hit the Queens of Hearts, then you will see six Aces of Spades come out. Fantastic!

The Desert Inn Closes

Wilbur Clark's Desert Inn, the fifth property to open on what would become the Las Vegas Strip, opened its doors on April 24, 1950. After 50 years, the Desert Inn closed its doors on Monday, September 28, 2000 marking the end for one of the Strip's most storied resort casinos. Despite its glamorous past, the relatively small 715-room resort has struggled in recent years to compete with the billion-dollar megaresorts springing up down the Strip. Developer Steve Wynn, former owner of Mirage Resorts Inc. purchased the ailing property in April and plans to replace the Desert Inn with a massive new resort, complete with two 59-story hotel towers.

The DI was home of a reasonable six deck game. You could re-split your Ace's and Surrender your hands in a S17, DOA, DAS, 70% penetration game. A nice classy place were you could bet $5 a hand between players betting hundreds a hand. With a negative expectation of .31%, it compaired well to many other casinos offering less opportunity to make a buck.

I loved the back of this casino. A nice little cactus area filled with flowers, little bridges to walk over with your honey and watch the moon lower in the sky.
