Links relating to Shaving

The following is a list of the more interesting Web sites I have found which relate to this research in one way or another. Some of them may disappear from time to time, as frequently happens in WWW-land, but I hope you may find something here to pique your interest. Most of the images used in this web-essay were extracted from the sites listed here.

RAZOR COMPANY PAGES

Gillette It is interesting that the only Gillette Web Page is in Brazil. This may be due to what appears to be a serious public attack on the company concerning the use of animals in product testing. Note the presence of a section on sports - a feature of shaving advertising everywhere.Note also the section on the history of the company from King C. Gillette on.
Schick Of particular interest in this site are the special section devoted to the "Schick Shaving Women" featured in their ad for men's razors. This is an uncommon, but not unknown, technique in men's razor advertising.
Philips This is a European site, and there are clear stylistic differences apparent in design and imagery. Take the option for "Personal Care Products". (Note the difference in terminology between "Shaving" for men and "Depilation" for women.)
Remington Remington is one manufacturer that has always specialized in electric razors, making household words of concepts such as 'triple-foil'. Note the section "Men Only: The Great Shaving Debate" - an elaborate attempt to show that it is cheaper (in the long run) to shave with an electric shaver than with a blade. Guess which product line Remington is flogging?!
