![]() Evolution's Hand |
Billions of species have evolved over geological time. What is surprising
is that when we classify these organisms they fall into a neat pyramidal hierarchy that is
composed of isolated ranks. Every member of a rank is equally representative of that rank. We
cannot trace ancestry of organisms because it is the very lower ranks that are most subject to
evolutionary change. These observations of the classification system of biology have been
corroborated by molecular biology. Each of the ranks in the classification system based on
comparative morphology can be identified on the microscopic level by the use of molecular
biology. The classification system is a real phenomenon in the affairs of science. This in turn
implies that biological evolution is the most complex and most systematic ordering phenomenon
ever discovered by science.
