The Canadia dell'Arte Theatre Troupe is a non-profit professional theatre company that has been producing mostly original works for four years in the Toronto area. In that time we have performed seven productions, ranging from original Commedia scenarios to classics like Ibsen's Hedda Gabbler. The core group is made up of members Michael Chipman, Dennis Frey, Julie Reitzel and led by Artistic Director Peter Reitzel. The group has been working as a collective for over seven years and has performed as many as twelve shows in cities across Canada, contributing to the culture of the entire culture. The company focuses on performing theatre without restrictions, which in most cases means shooting for the most elaborate or technically complicated choices and rising to them. Focus is placed on rehearsal as is more commonly the practice in European theatre - with shorter meetings being held over a longer period of time. The root of this belief and practice stems from continuous work on the improvised scenarios of the Commedia dell'Arte. The Troupe always welcomes new interests so feel free to get in touch with us. We are especially on the look-out for writers, as we are able to offer our services to workshop scripts in our space to an invited audience without cost. The Canadia dell'Arte Theatre
