The Canadia dell'Arte Theatre Troupe is pleased to announce their presentation of A Sun Without Heat A survey of Monsieur Charles Baudelaire's Prose Poems
The Canadia dellArte Theatre Troupe is proud to announce its first show of the new year, a 'collective' effort entitled A Sun Without Heat. The company has chosen the prose poems of Charles Baudelaire as its guidelines in developing this new piece for many varied reasons, the main one being that his work transcends the boundries of time, language and place and is particularly poignant in its exploration of the trials and tribulations of the artist at work. In his often introspective poetry, Baudelaire revealed himself as a seeker of God without religious beliefs, searching in every manifestation of life for its true significance, be it in the leaves of a tree or a prostitute's frown. His refusal to admit restriction in the poet's choice of theme and his assertion of poetic power of symbols makes Baudelaire appealing to modern man, as a poet and a critic. This new piece employs different aspects and genres of live performance to convey the story, and all the action is accompanied by a live score composed and performed by Sam Alison, Chris Cummings and Duncan MacDonald. Actors Adam Gaudreau and Erika Hennebury join the core company members Michael Chipman, Dennis Frey and Julie Reitzel lead by director Peter Reitzel.
