EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT

I'm happy to report on the success of Auction 2009.  Thank you to all of our very generous donors, dedicated volunteers, hard working staff and auction shoppers!  Jack Press, our long time auctioneer, was in fine form as he auctioned off some incredible merchandise.  John and his wait staff at Alleycatz were perfect hosts and people commented on the excellent service and find food.  The auction is our biggest fundraising event of the year and this year we raised just under $10,000.  Thank you for making it so successful.  If you missed it this year, please join us next October for Auction 2010.

Mark your calendar for Friday, November 20 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. for our Annual Holiday Gift Fair.  Start your holiday shopping, meet up with friends for lunch or a snack in the Snowflake Cafe or, pick up some delicious home-baked goodies from the Incredible Edibles table.  I hope you will join us!  If you would like to help with the event, please call Mary at 416-392-0511, ext. 233, or email her at volunteering@centraleglinton.com.  We need baked goods, pie contestants, and volunteers to set up, tear down and assist at the event. Come on out and make a day of it!

Again this year, we are selling the Entertainment Book - a fabulous way to save money and get a life!  Full of two-for-one offers, it makes a terrific gift or gives you an opportunity to get out more.  Get one while supplies last - for $25.00 - it's a great deal!

As the year end approaches, we start to think of "The Tax Man"!  Yes, it will soon be time for our annual Income Tax Clinic.  For people of modest means, the Centre offers assistance with your income tax preparation  You can book a daytime, evening or Saturday appointment by calling the Centre any time beginning Tuesday, February 16.  Tax clinics are offered throughout March and April.  In order to provide this vital service we are recruiting volunteer tax preparers, clinic receptionists, and appointment takers.  Please contact Mary at 416-392-0511, ext 233 or email her at volunteering@centraleglinton.com.
