Redemption - Episode 14Written by Terry NationBlake and the crew are shocked by Orac's prediction of the destruction of the Liberator. Blake reviews the explosion time and time again, trying to find something that stands out. Avon is watching from the back of the room, seemingly enjoying Blake's discomfort. He's waiting for Blake to ask him for help.... which he eventually does. Avon points out that the starfield is unique and once they work out where it is, all they have to do is avoid that sector of space. Blake is surprised it was that easy, and Avon reveals he has known this for some time, just that no one has asked him - he points out that the crew should not rely on Blake so much. Before Blake can respond, the Liberator is attacked. Precise strikes on the sensors and engine controls render her blind and out of control, racing across the galaxy at full speed. Eventually the power systems run dry, and the Liberator comes to a halt. Blake theorizes that the attack was part of a set plan; the enemies knew exactly where to hit. It was probably the people who built the Liberator. With control over the ship, the aliens soon teleport onboard and the crew are taken captive by the computer dominated race. Held prisoner on the large space station - Spaceworld - Avon realizes they are in the exact sector of space shown by Orac's prediction. Vila manages to break out of his cell and release the others, just as things begin to breakdown on the space station. The crew meet up with an internal resistance group, who help them back to the Liberator. People are fleeing everywhere as vital systems break down, which Blake realizes must be caused by Orac. The finally make it back to the Liberator, and escape the space station, but are pursued by a sister ship, identical to the Liberator. Vila reminds them of the prediction and that there is no point in running, but suddenly the sister ship explodes. Orac tells them he reconfigured that ship's firing controls to detonate their missiles before launch, destroying the ship - making his prediction come true.
Shadow - Episode 15Written by Chris BoucherBlake wants a way to infiltrate the Federation on Earth itself, so decides to link up with the Terra Nostra - a drug cartel running from Space City. Space City, also known as the satellite of sin, is home to anyone wanting pleasure and is also the base of the Terra Nostra. They control Shadow, a highly addictive drug that carries the death sentence just for possession. Gan is very uneasy about using the Terra Nostra - repulsed at the drug dealing and not wanting to link up with such people - but Blake assures him they will use their resources and information just to attack the Federation. Blake, Avon, Jenna and Gan teleport over to Space City to make contact with the Terra Nostra, leaving Cally and Vila to mind the shop. But Vila persuades Orac to operate the teleport for him - but only if Vila hides Orac first. Once alone, Cally begins to get telepathic signals from Orac, confusing and frightening her - not knowing what is going on. Blake soon discovers that its a trap; the Terra Nostra are just a front for the Federation, who are using Shadow as just another mind control drug. But with Cally's help, using the Liberator's neutron blasters on Space City, they manage to escape - taking two of the Space City residents with them. They decide to try to destroy the Shadow production plants on Zondar. They then start to search for Orac, who is manipulating the Liberator's control systems and tormenting Cally who eventually falls into a coma. Orac gets worse and suddenly Cally rushes to the teleporter, beaming down to Zondar. There, the special "moon disc" lifeforms help her, help her to break the link between her and Orac. Orac was being used by an alien lifeform from another universe, utilizing his carrier waves to access this universe. Once the link to Cally is broken, Orac fights off the invasion too, and returns to normal.
Weapon - Episode 16Written by Chris BoucherBlake, from a suggestion by Cally, decides to mount an attack on the Federation Weapons Development Base. She knows he's planning an attack on the Federation Central Control, so they will need as many weapons as possible. At the same time, the Federation is experimenting with cloning, creating an exact copy of Blake. Using the clone, they hope to anticipate Blake's every move. When the crew arrives at the base, they are surprised to find it all ready on maximum alert. Coser, with his partner Rashel, have stolen the IMIPAK weapon - Coser's life work. He's upset the Federation are going to take the weapon without giving him the credit. When Servalan hears of the theft, she immediately dispatches Space Commander Travis to find out what happened. Both Blake and Travis track down Coser, but Travis gets there first and sends in Blake's clone. Coser reveals the details of the weapon to the clone, thinking its the real Blake, telling him about the Induced Molecular Instability Projector and Key. IMIPAK. Its a weapon that projects an unstable molecular potential in the part of the victim that you hit. That doesn't kill them, only until the Key unit is operated are the new molecules activated, killing the target. Servalan enters and takes IMIPAK, quickly killing Coser. Travis then marks Blake, Avon and Gan as they teleport down and being searching for Coser. They meet up, and she reveals the trio are marked, enjoying the fact that she is going to make them run. They do, but just as she's about to activate the key, the clone of Blake, and Rashel, rush in and mark Servalan and Travis, effectively ending the usefulness of the weapon.
Horizon - Episode 17Written by Allan Prior The crew are suffering from various aliments; stomach cramps, headaches and back pains, all caused by stress. They have been running for a long time, and desperately need a rest. This is when they come across the planet Horizon. Horizon is a small planet on the very edge of the known Galaxy, a Federation controlled mining planet producing Monopasium two-three-nine - a valuable mineral. As they close on the planet, they run into a magnetic barrier around the planet. The systems seem okay, but the planetary defenses now know they are there. However, Blake decides to go down, taking Jenna with him, hoping Horizon can be used as a bolt hold. Once on the planet, they are soon spotted by the surveillance systems. Guards are sent out and Blake and Jenna are soon rendered unconscious by blow darts. Back on the Liberator, Cally begins to worry. Blake and Jenna's call is overdue, so Gan and Vila also teleport down. They two are quickly caught. Blake and Jenna are now being tortured, for information about the resistance movement. Cally herself now beams down, allowing Avon to put an idea to Orac. Avon is thinking about leaving the crew to their fate, sure in the knowledge that with Orac's help, he and the Liberator could survive for a long time. He eventually decides to beam down, using Orac to operate the teleporter. Cally is also captured, and the crew are put to work in the mines, always at danger from the high radiation levels. Avon beams down and starts to systematically destroy the small sensors. Unlike the other crew members, he takes his time. After rescuing the crew, they teleport back to the Liberator.
Pressure Point - Episode 18Written by Terry Nation A tragic episode which sees Blake's determination and single mindedness cost the life of one of the crew. Blake has made contact with Kasabi, a resistance leader on Earth and the Liberator is speeding to Blake's home planet. Blake wants to make a telling strike against the Federation - he aims to destroy Control, the Federation's computer nerve centre. But he's not being totally honest with the crew, knowing they'd be against the risks. Once he reveals his true plans he manages to persuade the crew to help him, even Avon. Avon knows that if they succeed, the resistance movements on Earth will need a leader, Blake, leaving Avon with the Liberator. Before their arrival, Servalan and Travis are waiting. They catch Kasabi and her daughter, Veron, and by using drugs, they get Blake's arrival information. Using her mothers death as a threat, they force Kasabi's daughter to lead Blake's team into a trap. Blake, Avon, Vila and Gan go to meet Veron in a rundown church, but she releases a Sono gas capsule, rendering them out cold. Gan manages to break the door down, and they escape, heading for the Control complex. Central Control is held deep inside a concrete bunker, surrounded by sophisticated security systems. They manage to enter the complex, with Travis and his Mutiods hot on their heels. After bypassing more traps, they come to the final door, which Vila manages to unlock. Blake rushes in to the room, to find it empty. Shock takes over and he sinks to his knees, just as Travis and the Mutiods enters, quickly disarming them. Travis explained that Control was moved 30 years ago, but they used this bunker as a challenge to the Federation's enemies. They broadcasted this as the location, able to pick off their challengers one by one. Just as Travis is about to kill Blake, Servalan enters, covered by Jenna and Veron. Jenna had been worried about the lack of contact and teleported to the surface, where she'd found Veron. They'd managed to locate Servalan and were using her to force Travis to release the crew. As the crew run for the exit, Travis in his rage releases a Strontium grenade, a vastly overpowered bomb, which starts to bring the roof down. As a safety door begins to close, Gan rushes forward to hold it open, allowing the crew through. But as he's about to go through himself, the roof caves in, trapping him. Blake rushes back to help, but another roof fall kills Gan, leaving Blake holding him. Blake rejoins the rest of the crew as they teleport to the Liberator and head out of the solar system. The last shot is of Blake looking at Gan's empty station.
Trial - Episode 19Written by Chris Boucher Blake has taken Gan's death badly and needs time alone to decide how to go on. He sets a course for the nearest planet with tolerable conditions, then teleports down, scrambling the system's co-ordinates after beaming. Blake leaves a message for the crew telling them he needs time to think - alone. He's questioning whether his resistance should continue, whether there is too much risk. Both Blake and the crew are on the edge of splitting. Meanwhile, at the Federation's headquarters, Travis is finally being tried for his war crimes - the death of 1,417 unarmed civilians on the planet Serkasta. Its mainly a show trial. There are some in the Federation who think Servalan is getting too powerful and want to use Travis' failures to embarrass Servalan politically. But in reality, she wants Travis sent down, to hide any mishandling of Blake's pursuit. Back on the planet, Blake meets a strange alien called Zil; a very jittery creature who is constantly on the move. She encourages Blake to keep moving, to avoid something called The Host. She needs to resist the host saying "Resist it. Oneness must resist the Host". Blake realizes this is also the same for him, resisting the Federation or be swallowed up. Onboard the Liberator, Avon is busy installing a new detector shield, which can render the Liberator invisible to anything bar close range scanners. The crew then begin to search the planet for Blake as major seismic changes effect the planet. The whole land mass begins to sink beneath the oceans. Orac discovers that the whole planet is a living life form and the inhabitants are parasites, which the planet is now deciding to kill. The crew struggle to locate Blake, but manage to teleport him up before the planet engulfs him. Blake outlines his plans to the crew. He feels with their moderate success, they now have a reputation of being invulnerable. But with Gan's death, every Federation officer and bounty hunter will now be looking for them and they must start to rebuild their reputation - starting with an attack on the Federation Headquarters spacestation. Travis, thinking Servalan is controlling his future, dismisses his defend team, determined to make his own views known. He outlines his training as a field officer, showing how he has to make decisions in the field and that if something went wrong - as on Serkasta - then it is a failing of his training and not of him. But his defense is to no avail, he's sentenced to be executed for his crimes. As he's about to be taken away, the Liberator attacks, helped by its new detector shield. With the commotion, Travis jumps his guards and escapes - quickly making his way to Servalan. She decides to give him a ship and a crew of Mutiods, so that he can continue to hunt Blake down - still controlled by Servalan.
Killer - Episode 20Written by Robert Holmes The Federation have recently changed their communications systems and the crew need a new special crystal which decodes the Federation's messages. They head for the planet Fosforon - home of one of the Federation's communication stations. Avon and Vila teleport down to the surface to meet up with an old acquaintance of Avon's - Tynus and Avon were part of a massive fraud operation. Avon was arrested and kept quiet about Tynus. Avon is now calling in that favour - Tynus now works in the control centre monitoring the communications systems and is ideally placed to help Avon and Vila. Meanwhile, the Liberator spots a vessel homing in on the planet. The Wanderer class ship appears adrift and doesn't respond to the crew's calls. Cally detects human life aboard, something malignant, but the Federation base has already launched a salvage ship. Blake sends a coded message to the planet, warning them of the danger aboard the drifting ship. Avon and Vila persuade Tynus to help them, arranging for the crystal to appear to breakdown. A replacement will be ordered, a small fire will be started and in the confusion Vila and Avon will make off with the original crystal. But Tynus arranges for a message to get to Federation Command, betraying Avon and Vila. Dr. Bellfriar, the base's chief medical officer, ponders Blake's warning, issuing quarantine instructions around the base. Orac has determined the ship is K-Forty-Seven a vessel that went missing over 700 years ago. Blake teleports down to the base to find out what is on the ship and meets up with Dr. Bellfriar. A human body is found onboard the ship and transferred to the base for an autopsy. But during the procedure, the body comes to life, killing the doctor. The assistants rush in to help, but on their arrival, the body is once again dead. Blake reasons that the body has been surgically altered by some alien lifeform. They body had a scar on its skull, possibly a brain implant, which sent impulses to the body, bringing it to "life". Once its program was completed, the body was discarded. Soon the assistants who went to help are dead; killed by a potent virus delivered by the dead body. The planned fire goes off, causing mass confusion in the communications area. Avon and Vila slip in and after a short while, Avon manages to grab the required crystal from the computers. Once back in Tynus' quarters, Vila discovers the message sent to Federation control, requesting help from Servalan. Avon kills Tynus and creates an explosion in the communications centre, hoping to hide their theft of the crystal. Avon and Vila then teleport back to the Liberator. Blake teleports back to the Liberator and puts Orac to use, trying to find the cause of the virus. Eventually he does and Blake provides the information to Dr. Bellfriar, hoping he can stop the spread of the virus. It turns out that the virus attacks anyone who has been into space, effectively barring space travel for humans. Leaving the planet to its woes, Blake decides to leave a plague marker in orbit, even though Servalan is on her way. Avon tries to stop him, knowing that the plague will kill Servelan, but Blake is unwilling to risk the rest of Federation space with the virus. The beacon is left behind as the Liberator leaves orbit.
Hostage - Episode 21Written by Allan Prior The Liberator is attacked by 8 pursuit ships which they manage to outrun, but they are actually being shepherded into a trap of 20 more of the Federation's crafts. Saved only by Jenna's flying skills and their force wall, they manage to survive long enough to maneuver a way out. The Liberator is able to escape the attack with her superior speed. While the crew try to recharge the Liberator's drained energy banks, a message comes in from the planet Expar; addressed to Blake himself. Its a signal from Travis, explaining he has captured Inga, Blake's cousin. Travis wants Blake to come to Expar, to team up against the Federation - now that Travis is himself exiled. After a brief argument with Avon, about what clearly appears to be a trap, Blake gets his way and they head for Expar. On the Federation Headquarters spacestation, Servalan is visited by Councilor Joban, who expresses concern about Blake's non-capture. Blake's name is spreading around the Federation, becoming a word synonymous with freedom. He is quickly becoming a hero among the oppressed masses and they want him caught at all costs. Servalan also receives a message from an unknown source, telling her that Travis is now on Expar and she quickly sets off to the planet herself. Upon their arrival at Expar, Blake teleports down alone and meets up with his uncle Ushton. Back on the Liberator, Avon seems preoccupied and he eventually teleports down to the surface himself. Ushton is filling Blake in on Travis' arrival, how he came to Expar with 4 "Crimos" - criminal psychopaths. Blake and Ushton head up to Ushton's shelter - with Avon tailing them. Blake heads off to meet Travis alone, but Ushton is betraying Blake, by calling Travis on a communicator. Avon is worried about the situation and calls for Vila to also beam down. Blake is captured by one of the Crimos while a sleeping Vila is also caught by Ushton. Travis wants the Liberator and means to use Inga to force Blake to give it up - but Blake won't play ball. Travis switches to Vila to get the ship, knowing he is the weakest out of the Liberator's trio. Vila, after being threatened, calls the ship and issues the Teleport command, bringing the crimo, Molok, onboard the Liberator. Avon then chooses this time to reveal to Blake that he has sent a message to Space Command, informing Servalan of Travis' whereabouts. Meanwhile, onboard the Liberator, Cally and Jenna trick Molok and teleport him into open space. Ushton and Inga manage get free of Travis and free Blake, Avon and Vila, and they escape back to the Liberator, leaving Travis for Servalan.
Countdown - Episode 22Written by Terry Nation The episode starts on the planet Albian; like most planets its Federation controlled, but here a rebellion is underway. The battle rages as the Federation troops are pushed back. Tronos, Selson and Provine are left in the control room, listening to reports of the battle. They realise it isn't going well for the Federation and decide to use their main deterrent - a solium radiation device. A device with a small explosion, but deadly radiation that disperses quickly - leaving everyone dead but all structures intact. Selson and Provine head off to their shuttle bay, leaving Tronos to set the device. He's killed by the rebels, but not before he arms the bomb. Selson is also killed in a landslide, leaving Provine unable to get to his shuttle. In space, the Liberator closes on Albian. Blake is looking for Provine, who he knows worked on Central Control - the Federation supercomputer. Blake, Avon and Vila teleport down to the surface. They arrive in the aftermath of the battle and start to explore, finding the shuttle bay, then meet the rebels, lead by Cauder. He explains what has happened and how they don't have a way to stop the bomb. Avon explains that the device they are working on is just a transmitter, the real bomb could be hidden anywhere on the planet. Cauder explains that the rebellion was lead by a mercenary, as they didn't have the expertise themselves. Avon is shocked to find it is Del Grant, a man who wants to kill Avon. Del is the brother of Avon's lover, who he thinks Avon betrayed during his attempted robbery of the Federations's banking system. Vila uses Orac to find the location of the hidden bomb - at the planetary polar region - and Avon and Grant head off to attempt to disarm it. Blake sets off to find Provine, who has recently attacked some of the guards while trying to escape in his shuttle. Provine is disquised as a rebel and is actually sent to help Blake. When they reach the shuttle a short fight takes place, with Blake able to overcome Provine. He's dying, but doesn't want to give any information about Central Control. However, he does reveal is it now called Star One and only one man, a surgeon named Docholli, knows the location. Blake can't get him to tell him where Docholli is before Provine dies. At the pole, Avon and Grant are working hard to disarm the bomb, taking about Anna - Grant's sister and Avon's former lover. Avon explains that he had gone to obtain some exit visa's to make their escape, but was attacked on his way back to Anna. He was shot and unconscious for more than 30 hours and found out later that Anna had come looking for him but had been killed. Grant's not sure, but carries on with disarming the bomb. A collapsing roof almost crushes Grant, but Avon saves him, and they manage to disarm the bomb at the last second - saving the planet.
Voice From The Past - Episode 23Written by Roger Parkes The Liberator is on course for Del Ten, a relaxation planet with a high concentration of beta particles. But Blake is beginning to act strangely, altering the course for the barren asteriod, PK One One Eight. When confronted, he slips into a trance, chanting "Renounce, renounce, renounce", over again, which appears to be a link to his brainwashing back on Earth. His trance appears to be triggered by an audible osscillating noise which only himself and Cally can here. Orac attempts to de-program Blake, but needs Jenna's help. She joins Blake, helping to monitor him, making sure he's not getting near the threshold of insanity. The treatment doesn't work, and Vila is put on guard. Blake persuades Vila that Avon and Cally are plotting against him, forcing them to head to Del Ten for an ambush, so Vila sets Blake free who then manages to lock Avon, Cally and Jenna in the rest area. Once at the asteriod, Blake teleports down to the small mining building, and finds a small group of rebels, led by Shivan; a weak man wrapped in a total body bandage.Shivan's helper, Glynd, explains they hope to bring down the Federation, including Servalan. They have evidence she plotted to steal one hundred million credits from the Federation banks to purchase Orac. Blake teleports the rebels back to the Liberator, where they explain they must contact the only Federation council member still on the side of good, Governer Le Grand. Blake sets course for Atlay, where the annual meeting of the Federation governers is about to take place. Orac determines that Blake is being to easily led, some form of telepathic order was beamed to him to force him to the asteriod. And that the rebels are still leading him via some low power transmitter already onboard the Liberator. They reach Atlay, and Blake, Jenna, Glynd and Le Grand teleport down to the conference area. On the Liberator, Shivan strikes, killing the lone rebel guard, and revealing himself as Travis. Back in the conference room, Blake and his friends find the area empty. Servalan's image appears on a huge screen, explaining that she has known of Le Grand's plan from the beginning. Guards open fire, killing Le Grand and wounding Glynd, but Jenna manages to drag Blake away as his trance again takes over. Travis teleports down, anxious to finish Blake off himself. Glynd attacks Travis and Avon smashes the transmitter controlling Blake, giving Blake and Jenna enough time to teleport back to the Liberator.
Gambit - Episode 24Written by Robert Holmes Blake has traced Docholli - an ex-Federation Cyber Surgeon who reportedly knows the location of Star One - to Freedom City. Freedom City is one of the few neutral zones left in the Federation; often allowing runaways to hide out there and housing one of the richest casino's in the known galaxy. Blake knows both Servalan and Travis will also be after Docholli; in fact Travis is already there, acting as Docholli's bodyguard and waiting for Blake to show up. Blake, Jenna and Cally teleport down, leaving Avon and Vila onboard the Liberator. Servalan arrives on Freedom City with Jarriere - her decidedly stupid Federation bodyguard. She meets up with Krantor, the showy ruler of Freedom City and announces she is here to find Docholli and Travis. Krantor offers to find them for her for four million credits per man. Back onboard the Liberator, Avon and Vila are brooding about being left behind instead of going to Freedom City : the place that has everything a man ever dreams of. Avon hits on the idea of busting the casino - the Big Wheel. His plan is to take Orac with them and use him to manipulate the casino's computerised systems - allowing them to walk away with millions. Vila points out how big and Orac is, not built for smuggling into a casino. So Avon persuades Orac to demonstrate the process of stabilized atomic implosion - reducing his size to 1/8th the original. Travis is captured by Krantor's men and delivered to Servalan, who places a small bomb inside Travis' mechanical arm. She knows Travis will head for Docholli as soon as he realises his arm isn't functioning properly and the bomb will detonate. Blake, Jenna and Cally begin their search, entering a rough bar as some of Crantor's men are questioning Chenie, the bar owner, about Docholli. Cally and Jenna cause a distraction allowing Blake to determine Docholli was once in the bar. Chenie has arranged for Docholli to ship out on a friendly planet hopper, allowing him to hide. In the Casino, Avon and Vila witness a space trekker make the ultimate bet, risking his life at speed chess against the resident champion - The Klute. The Klute wins and gets to electrocute the trekker. Avon and Vila begin their task, Vila placing the bets on the roulette wheel as Avon passes on Orac's instructions via their communicators. Vila is winning a lot of money! Blake sees Travis heading in the direction of the docking bays, carrying Docholli's medical tools. Krantor's men are also on his trail. Back in the Casino, after winning millions, the wheel is prematurely closed down and Krantor takes Vila away for a drink and to get his money. In fact, Vila is drugged and put up against the Klute at speed chess! He has no choice but to play. In the docking bay, Travis quickly kills Krantor's goons, finding out about the bomb in his arm from they dying men. Blake also appears, forcing Travis to drop his weapon and Docholli begins to explain about the location of Star One. Docholli operated on thirty of the technicians who built Star One. In order to protect them, he wiped their minds, erasing their lives, knowing they would always be in danger. But he faked the last operation and took a copy of the patients brain print, which his partner took with him. The print is now supposed to be on a thong around the neck of the chief of the planet Goth. Vila, with Orac's help, forces a draw, doubling his winnings. Avon, Vila and Orac leave quickly, teleporting back to the Liberator, just as Blake, Jenna and Cally call for beam up - leaving Avon and Vila looking very sheepish.
The Keeper - Episode 25Written by Allan Prior After learning from Docholli that the location of Star One is kept by Lurgen, the Liberator is soon in orbit around the planet Goth, the last known location of Lurgen. Avon is now encouraging Blake to hunt down Star One, so that the rebellion can start with Blake as its leader... leaving Avon in control of the Liberator. Blake, Jenna and Vila teleport down to Goth to begin their search, although Avon is worried that Travis may already be there. Due to numerous toxic gases on the planet's surface, they natives all live in caves, deep underground. But they do have regular patrols to the surface. It is one of these patrols that comes across the visitors from the Liberator, capturing Jenna and Vila, with Blake managing to teleport back to the Liberator. Jenna and Vila are taken to meet Gola, the current ruler of Goth. Travis is already there, also looking for the location of Star One. Gola decides to keep Jenna as his own, and Vila as his Fool... which makes his current Fool very jealous. Travis reports to Servalan, who it also on the planet, that the Liberator and her crew are here. Travis tells her he knows the secret of Star One is kept by a royal person, either Goth or his sister, Tara, but he's not sure which one. He then sets out to leave Goth, he says to call for help to destroy the Liberator, but he really already knows where Star One really is and is heading for it immediatly. Blake teleports down again, to try to rescue Jenna and Vila, but before he can enter the caves he comes across Rod, brother of Gola, and he believes the rightful leader of Goth. They sneak into the caves, entering via the dungeons. They are empty, apart from an old man who has been there years, who quickly hides. Jenna is investigating, and finds that Tara's amulet does not carry the brain pattern of Lurgen. She is soon playing chequers with Gola, who manages to beat Jenna. Servalan enters, claming Jenna let him win, and Vila appears to agree. Vila is dragged off to the dungeons, proclaiming his innocence, as the original Fool smirks from having thrown his voice. Jenna is getting closer to Gola and finally gets to check his amulet... which is also blank. But she does manage to convince Gola that Vila was framed by the Fool, who is himself sent to the dungeons. Once there, he quickly finds the old man, telling him he used to be his Fool. Vila is taken back to the throne room, quickly followed by Blake and Rod. Rod and Gola start to fight, both claiming the throne for each other. Gola manages to kill Rod, but before he can celebrate, he himself is poisoned by Tara, who takes the throne for herself. She reveals the old man in the dungeons is Rod and Gola's father, and it is he who holds the information on Star One. When the confront the old man, all his can say is Travis has taken the amulet with the location, and "A fool knows everything and nothing" before he dies. Blake repeats is, louder, and the Fool starts to recite a long ago learned phrase, revealing the location of Star One. Lurgen had planted the information in the Fool's brain keyed under a certain phrase. With the information, Blake, Jenna and Vila teleport back to the Liberator and set course for the new co-ordinates.
Star One - Episode 26Written by Chris Boucher Things are going badly wrong in Federation space. Spaceship autopilots are failing, weather control on the frontier planets is breaking down. The cause - a breakdown on Star One - the Federation's control and coordination centre. One massive computer with links to all other computers in the Federation. Durkim, a Federation computer expert, brings this knowledge to Servalan, who reveals that repairs will be impossible as no-one knows the location of the Star One. The Liberator is closing on the edge of the galaxy, following Lurgen's co-ordinates retrieved from the planet Goth. Nothing is showing on the sensors and Zen has no information of what's outside the boundary of our galaxy. Avon has finally come round to helping Blake, knowing that without Star One the Federation will be a prime target for Blake, leaving Avon in control of the Liberator. Cally points out that without Star One's influence, many people will die, but Blake feels he has to go on and finish what he started. So the Liberator plunges into inter-galactic space. In the control centre on Star One we see Stott examining some equipment. Lurena enters and is confused, she has just checked the same piece of hardware. Stott reveals they have been watching her, watching her signs of stress. Lurena bolts and manages to hide as Stott and fellow worker Parton reveal they are really aliens, who have assumed human form and already have control of Star One. The Liberator closes on the only reading in the scanners, a single star, with a single orbiting planet - Star One. They begin a surface scan, looking for heat sources, which after a short while, Cally locates. Avon is doing some investigating of his own and discovers that between Star One and the Andromeda galaxy is a massive defense network consisting of anti-matter minefields. Built by the Federation, either to keep humanity in, or something else out. Blake, Avon and Cally teleport down to the planet, carrying a number of explosives. The soon find the door to the control centre, but Blake and Cally are captured. Cally sends a telepathic message to Avon, warning him. Blake manages to bluff his way round the alien, who reveals they have been waiting for someone. Someone who insists on betraying all of humanity. It is not until the alien asks which arm is false does Blake realise they are expecting Travis. Once alone, Blake and Cally begin placing the explosives around the control centre. Travis arrives and is quickly captured by Avon. However, when they enter the control centre, Lurena gets in the way and Travis escapes. Avon kills one of the aliens, revealing his true identity. Back on the Liberator, Vila has been scanning the region beyond the minefield. There, waiting patiently are thousands of alien ships. Waiting for some unseen signal. Jenna decides to use Orac to deliver a message to Servalan, warning of the impending invasion. Meanwhile, Blake is trying to get more information from the alien when Travis bursts in and shoots Blake, who falls to the floor in a corner. Travis then begins to deactivate the minefield. After only a small amount of mines are switched off, Avon enters and kills Travis and the alien. Struggling with his injuries, Blake gets Cally to begin removing the explosives, knowing Star One will be essential in the defence of the Federation. The explosives are removed just in time and they return to the ship. The Federation battle fleet is closing, but are still a few hours off. With Blake recoving in his quarters, Avon orders the Liberator to stand defiant, after giving his word to Blake he would hold off the aliens until the Federation fleet arrives. the episode ends with Avon staring at the viewscreen, the alien ships moving forward, as he gives the command to fire.
