CUSTOMS BROKERS CANADA
SHIPPING CHARGES
How to prevent paying extra money and
reduce import costs into Canada!
There are numerous extra charges which surprise most
Shippers and Importers once they receive their invoices from
Carriers and Forwarders. Some of these charges can be reduced or
avoided if the following points are kept in mind:
SMALL, LOW WEIGHT
SHIPMENTS:
Couriers are the answer. Their rates may appear high, but they
include most of the aspects for which Airlines and Forwarders
charge extra, and which may add up to considerable sums on small shipments!
PARCEL POST
SHIPMENTS:
Parcel Post, in our opinion, is not a recommendable shipping method
for commercial goods, because the systems used by Canada Customs
and the Post Office are slow and may result in duty and tax errors!
LARGE, HIGH WEIGHT
SHIPMENTS:
Shopping around with several Carriers, Forwarders and even Couriers
will produce freight rates which vary considerably from company to
company. Keep in mind that all-inclusive freight rates usually
appear higher than the basic Airline or Forwarder's charges, but
that their EXTRA CHARGES will add considerably to the overall cost
of your shipment!
OCEAN FREIGHT
SHIPMENTS:
Again, shopping several Companies will produce considerable savings
in freight costs. All-inclusive freight rates are available for
full container loads and, occasionally, also for smaller loads
(LCL= less than container loads).
FREIGHT FORWARDING
ARRANGEMENTS:
Because of the complexity of the Freight Forwarding business we
can only advise you on specific methods of shipment if all of the
shipment details are known to us. If you have any questions
regarding freight forwarding, please E-mail them to us, using our
