Elixir Review
Manufacturer Wind Range: 3 - 22 mph Optimal Wind Range (MHO) : 4 - 15 mph Weight (my actual kite) 10 5/8 oz 300 g July 18, 2003 I removed the Prism stand off clips & added Jaco style ones Now the back of the sail is much cleaner looking & no outer stand off snags.
May 18, 2003 At Grand Haven Mark Reed signed my Elixir.
November 3, 2002 Flying the Masquerade has really helped me get the 'feel' of the backspin. I can now do them quite regularly with the Elixir. On Sunday I did several spins & also did 3 spins from one pull. The Elixir is the king of Rotofades. I personally believe that no other kite's backspin looks as good or as flat. Recent videos I have worked on (for Bill & Walter) prove this without question.
September 19, 2002 I just received my new Rainbow Elixir. I always like the rainbow color scheme the best & I finally ordered a new one. I decided to keep my Black/Purple Elixir (update: I sold my purple one), I really like this design & thought I might as well have 2.
July 30, 2001 I have been trying for a while to get the Flap Jack. Well I finally nailed it. The elixir is making so many tricks attainable & repeatable. I also did slow Flic Flacs which have been called fade flacks by Prism. Anyways, so far I love this kite, it has quickly moved up on my list. Also the Elixir is very easy to pancake out even in the center of the wind window. This is an important attribute because most advanced tricks start from the pancaked position i.e. Rotofade, Flic Flac, 540 etc...
July 24, 2001 I just got to fly the Elixir for about an hour in low wind (2 - 8 mph). I really like this kite, I tip wrapped it very few times & when I did it is easy to unwrap the lines. In fact on one occasion I was able to rotate the kite slowly around the wrap like a yo-yo & then relaunch. Very Cool. So back to the test fly. Winds were low when I first started but the Elixir surprising still flew. I was about to pull out my Feather but really wanted to get some time on the Elixir. Thankfully the winds picked up. The kite is very easy to axel & double axels are especially nice because the second one is flat & slow. I was also able to Flic Flac, pancake landing, axel to fade & did several Lazy Susans. I need to practice the tug for the Lazy Susan because the Elixir likes a lighter touch than the Gemini for 1 rotation. 1 major positive to the Elixir is that it is easy to pancake out for a 540 which I was able to do with it. Also the transition out of a low level fade generally means a possible nose plant but a simple push forward turns a crash into an elegant soft pancake landing. Only problem with Elixir is an occasional line snag on the outer stand off clip. Prism should us the same clips they use on the Ozone. Conclusion: The Elixir will definitely see lots of air time because of its ease of flight & trickablilty. David G. Kitefan
July 20, 2001 Yesterday I examined my Elixir in detail. The construction of this kite is quite impressive. The materials used are top notch. I am really looking forward to tossing this one around.
