New Jam by New Tech Kites
Manufacturer Wind Range: 3 - 25 mph Optimal Wind Range (IMHO) : same as above when using windscreens Weight (my actual kite) oz g June 4, 2003 I purchased a New Tech New Jam. I am honestly quite surprised by its flying characteristics considering it is only $90.00 with 150# spectra lines. I generally consider myself to be a kite snob & won't buy cheap kites but this kite is well made & flies really well. First Flight was actually Dodd's kite in Grand Haven Michigan. Dodd was just flying with the guys & pulled out the New Jam so naturally I asked to try it out. I wasn't expecting much from the kite, I click with my Masquerades & enjoy other kites but generally get bored very quickly. The New Jam was another story. I enjoyed the feedback from the lines & it had good precision. I landed the kite then did a slow flap jack. Moments later I was rotofading / backspinning the kite. Then I wrapped up the kites to a fruit rollup. I ended in a nice stable fade. Wow, very nice. Recently, I had an opportunity to try the windscreens I ordered with my New Jam & the kite flew very stably in 20 mph wind. I easily axelled, did some flic flacs & the kite held a stable turtle. I am impressed with its over feel, trickability & package of the New Jam. I have already recommended it to several newbies.
