I. OUR HISTORY
Durham Covenant Life
Church began in an Oshawa living room, where several interested people gathered to seek
the Lord and to discuss the possibility of starting a new church in the Durham Region.
Working in relationship with Covenant Ministries
International, this group of interested persons held its first meeting on October 25,
1998. Along with a number of people from Belleville
Community Church, the group met together to pray, worship and to discuss what the
Scriptures say about God's intention for His church in this generation.
From the very beginning it became clear to the members of this small group that they were to pioneer a new community of faith that would be built on the principles of church life and ministry as revealed in the New Testament. It also became clear that God desires new communities of faith to be raised up all along southern Ontario's major economic and travel link - Highway 401. With the conviction that God is now working to restore His church to all that He originally intended it to be, the first members of Durham Covenant Life Church believe that God will continue to add people with a similar heart and vision for the Durham Region. With this in mind, the Rundle Park Community Centre on Park Road in Oshawa has been rented to accommodate those people whom the Lord will add to the fellowship. |
