"The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest
his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and
in the cause and prevention of disease." Thomas A. Edison

I
began to develop my philosophy of natural health care as I entered
adolescence. As the hormones began to stir up some acne, my
medical doctor promptly put me on antibiotics. Soon after I
began to feel physically ill, and my energy levels were depleted.
I then began having some really bad stomach problems as well.
Tumors, etc. were suspected along with a battery of not so pleasant
tests. Nothing was found but I had suddenly become severely
lactose intolerant. Soon later my tibia and fibula were broken
in a skiing accident. I believe that the needless antibiotics,
subsequent lactose intolerance and fracture were all related.
I became somewhat disenchanted with traditional medicine which
I believed at this point was causing me more health problems
rather than preventing them.
I was first exposed to a chiropractor after various sports injuries
(broken leg, sprained ankle, etc.). At first I went the traditional
physiotherapy route which did not work for me. This is because
the joints in my ankle and low back were in dire need of adjustments.
I could physically feel an increased amount of sensation in
my feet and ankles after they were adjusted. I became a believer
in the power of the chiropractic adjustment. It's slightly embarrassing
to tell this story because it was actually adjustments to the
joints in my feet rather than spine that first made me a believer
in chiropractic. |

The
reason I mention this is because I believe my entry into the
profession and the way I practice is influenced by my first
chiropractic experience. It showed me an alternative route
for musculoskeletal conditions, and sports injuries. Nobody
really considered joint dysfunction except my chiropractor
(my chiropractor was in fact a very quiet man who really didn't
talk much, he just did the job well).
As I became more of a chiropractic maintenance patient I found
that I would just feel better in general, get injured less
often in sports, and get sick less often. This made me a believer
in spinal adjustments for general health.
Later on my seasonal allergies were progressively getting
worse year after year. My spinal adjustments were helping
me but not with my allergies. I again turned to traditional
medicine. I received allergy shots which really made my arm
swell, and made me feel poor in general, so I stopped. Concurrently
I began receiving acupuncture which really did help my sinus
problems. This made me a believer in acupuncture.

I
have come to the conclusion that one chiropractic technique
is not effective for all people. I discovered this fact after
working in various chiropractic clinics before opening my
own. This is why I utilize many "weapons" to help
make and keep you healthy. These "weapons" include
various chiropractic techniques, acupuncture, electrical stimulation,
and low intensity laser.
I take great pride in the fact that I have helped patients
avoid surgery and/or reduce or even nullified the amount of
prescription or over the counter drugs they were once taking.
I have also helped many who were told by other health care
providers "there is nothing they can do".
I have helped people with such severe conditions as cerebral
palsy, multiple sclerosis, reflex sympathetic dystrophy and
people suffering the after-effects of a major stroke. Helping
people such as these really makes my job rewarding!
