graCeLesS - Dark clouds a-coming. Forecast calls for an apocalypse. To listen to these clips, you will need either MP3 or RealAudio players.
This group should change their name to AWESOME, because that's what they are! When I volunteered to perform at Scarbrough Campus U of T's Cultural Mosaic (March 21st, 1998), I had no idea who graceless was or what I was in for. Alex Mozo had been raving about them for quite some time and that they would be performing--representing the F.A.C.E.S clique. Shayne has an amazing voice--it was very expressive, very, very powerful--powerful enough to move the earth beneath your feet and knock you unconscious (not the intention, but the thought!). Kaine just played the guitar as if it were flesh and blood, very expressive; you could feel the passion of his soul just listening to him play; not a soul on earth can stand worthily to his calibre. Rheinne's presence emanates with that mysterious, forboding connection--her guitar playing expressively powering the arrangements like a gargoyle's symbiotic realtionship with Kaine's flesh and blood guitar performance. She is almost Graceless's walking soliloquy. These three are worth the ticket--I had no idea what I was missing until I heard this group. They literally invented a new genre with their fusion of other genres. Many have called it a new dark alternative style. In any case, their style is original; it almost satisfies the post-modern condition. The core of their creative artistry is, in my mind, expression of the deepest, darkest degrees. Excellence is the blood that runs through this group's veins. They are also the coolest to be around. Through Philantrophic projects and performances, Graceless has always had a heart for charities. Shayne even mentions time and again that she would love to perform for any charitable cause. I've had the opportunity and pleasure of working with Graceless--they are a lot of fun to work with and very professional--a quality only few bands have. Kaine brings a lot of humour to the studio; he is also hard working when it comes to producing a quality product. Rheinne looks like the silent link to Graceless' successes; She can also be warm, friendly, compassionate (let's not forget those scary ideas she comes up with when it comes to music videos! hahah--just kidding) At Kalayaan98, I rushed to see Graceless perform. I can remember a song that they performed called "Cry", when Kaine and Rhienne played this awesome interlude--treating the guitar as a percussive instrument. Shayne added to the presence by waving a magic wand in the air--absolutely a creative and show-stopping performance. If only they knew how many people were cheering for them during that performance, because it was a HUGE Graceless fan following. Now if I could only get my group photo of them returned to me...!! =) I also owe Graceless a big thanks--when Kaine give me Graceless's site url, I also discovered Jp Sunga's site through the links page. I had no idea that he knew Reagan Regozo--a performer I saw with Youth Ablaze's 1994 Christmas concert. I had not seen Reagan since then, but it was quite a surprise that Kaine knew her. I am very blessed and very fortunate to have met these wonderful threesome, and absolutely blessed to call them my friends. If you ever do meet them in person -- you'll definetly like them and you won't be dissappointed! All in all, this is a group worth the ticket. If you hear about them in town -- drop all your plans (that's plans, not pants in case the text is unreadable) and buy a ticket -- they are absolutely worth it! (By the way, don't bother bringing the wooden stakes or silver bullets--you'll be totally mesmerized by this group!)
