Can you say "Wut-Wut!" =)

Jennifer N. Uy - Singer/Diva Extraordinaire with heart

Super-Pinoy times (Florida-based) has a featured article on Jennifer N. Uy! Click here to check it out!

Just listen to "One Heart, One Light" and you'll find that the second voice in Lilac Cana's celebrated duet brings out a resonating power that exists only in the dreams of record producers and songwriters alike. When I first heard Jennifer Uy at Kalayaan98 (held at the Skydome), she absolutely amazed me with her vocal range and power. And without exception, this is one person of both a warm, friendly heart with a diva-calibre voice.

I even asked her for a CD of her work, which is currently available on Lilac Cana's (another great musician/diva worth watching!) ENCANTADA. You can imagine my excitement when I received the CD in the mail. I practically listenedto it all through out the night and even at work! Encantada is now available through HMV.

Jennifer's songs intelligently tug at both the heart and the soul. Already, her name has gained recognition around the world, in Hawaii, the West Coast and South-East Asia.

Jennifer is a classically trained singer whose vocal styles range from opera, classical songs to R&B, acid jazz, house music, heavy ballads and soul. She has performed at various events, concerts, and recitals in Toronto and in the Philippines. Currently, she is working on a demo tape which will contain original material she has written and collaborated with other Toronto artists. She is also constantly fine-tuning her songwriting, performing, and vocal skills.

Jennifer has a professional work ethic when it comes music production; she's very hard working and like Jp, Kaine and Alex, very results oriented. I can still remember when we were working on a demo clip together. She is a lot of fun to work with because she focuses on strengths and solutions.

I'm very grateful to have met Jennifer in person; fortunate to have worked with her (she is a joy to work with!), and very blessed to call her my friend (Kaine and Jp--I owe it to you both!).

Jennifer performed at SUPERSKILLS, which was held on January 23, 1999 at York University. She's also performed for a variety of shows, especially the Femme Cab night, where she sung "One Heart, One Light" with Lilac Cana. She even got a chance to meet Jan Arden and Sook Yin Lee!!

The most memorable experience to date, in my opinion, is at Cultural Mosaic, where Jennifer and I performed my original song, "Prayer." Man, someone please shoot me for not bringing a video camera! (Just kidding--and no ideas please! hehehe) She was absolutely awesome! Jennifer definetly rose to the occassion and she just put on a show-stopping performance.

The Cultural Mosaic Audience and performers were on their feet, just seconds into the ending of the song. I can remember my group, Paradigm (Donald, Keith, Neil/Alex), the Hawiian Pacific Magic group, the stage directors (Marcia Sam and Sandeep), my cousin Robert, Ayesha, Alex Cheung....what the hey--everyone wuz cheering for Jennifer! I I was inspired throughout the song, all the way to the end--she really brought on a presence that really grabbed my soul as I played the piano!

I look back and remember watching her perform for the first time on stage at Kalayaan98 with Lilac (as mentioned) and months later, she's performing "prayer". Not only was it an honour; it was a also breathtaking experience! Shayne Romero and Jennifer Uy are definetly, without doubt, true Divas! I am sooo happy and grateful to call them my friends! Jennifer--power to you!!
