Sonny Azurin - The Bottom is definetly on top! This is the first friend I ever met in person from Philmusic.com's chat rooms, and probably the first person I've ever met from chatting online--period. Sonny Azurin is one of the Philippine's most celebrated musicians, working with stars such as Ariel Rivera, Gary Valenciano, Donna Cruz, etc. I first met Sonny in person when he came to Toronto in 1997 to perform with Regine Velasquez at Massey Hall. He and his friend, Cesar Aguas met with me at the Eaton Centre for a lunch and first-time get together. He's very knowledgeable when it comes to the Philippine Music Industry. He's also pretty humourous too! =) The last I remember of him and Cesar before the concert was when we went into Steve's Music Store; Sonny and Cesar were shopping for some new gear.. The Regine concert was somewhat dissappointing; only 1/5th of Massey hall was occupied with showgoers. Even the turnout for the group One Night Stand (Who was opening for Regine) wasn't enough. It was a great show, but the turnout was the only dissapointing factor. (Regine's performances are normally sold-out...this was the surprisingly the exception) Sonny currently lives in Manila, hooking up with musicians such as Jaya, Pops Fernandez, Martin Rivera, Lea Salonga and many others. He is a very busy guy. All in all, I'm very fortunate and grateful to call him my friend. Very down to earth, very professional.
