Ok...we here at Flannel Planet haven't exactly been hitting the mark lately with getting reviews in on time. Personally, I blame CBS. They've got me thoroughly hooked with their dopey "Reality-TV" shows, Survivor and Big Brother. Damn them and their demographics...(For those of you who haven't fallen into their clutches yet, check these dangerously appealing shows here and here).

But...and this is a big 'but'...but we do have good news. Flannel Planet hasn't been totally inactive all this time. Stay tuned for the all new, all improved Flannel Planet which should be debuting here shortly. We've changed things around a bit and worked on improving the readability.

So, please check back soon, and we should be returning to a regular posting schedule, putting stuff up every two weeks. Oh, and of course, feel free to write me your rants, raves or regrets here. Until then, gentle readers, keep the faith.

Ahem. Would you believe alien abduction? No? How about overwhelming amounts of nightschool homework, then? Regardless, we're back with another update after being away far too long. Hopefully you hadn't entirely given up hope...sorry about that folks, but it was unavoidable.

This time round, we've got some slightly older reviews...one pretty good, and one not so hot.

The other reason for being so late with this update is that we've got an overhaul of Flannel Planet in the works. I hope to have it us and running sometime thsi month. And along with the new look, we may have some new features...so stay tuned.

And as always, I'm interested in hearing what you think. So far response from this site has been pretty thin...ok, it's been nonexistant. If you've got an axe to grind, if you think this is a waste of bandwidth, if you want to nominate Flannel Planet for a Nobel Prize and want help with the application form...whatever. Your comments, criticisms and suggestions are always welcomed. Feel free to write me here, even if it's just to tell me what you're favorite title is these days.

Well, we're back again, with more reviews. This time, the first few issues of the new Swamp Thing series from Vertigo and DC's Birds of Prey.

Also, as you have no doubt noticed, above this text is a new rating mechanism for WAHOO! It seems as though some of our loyal readers have gotten a little over zealous in their ratings, and while their fervor is appreciated, I'm posting the rating tool in an effort to keep things honest. So if you love us, great! If you think we stink, fine...but I'd also ask you to let us know why you think we stink, and how we can do things better here. Of course, all of your regular comments and suggestions are always welcome too.

And with that, I'm outta here. Enjoy...

April showers bring...uh...more reviews? Anyway...we're back with some poppin' fresh reviews for you. This time out, we've got Batman #577 and Strangers in Paradise #30-31.

Since FP has been picked up by WAHOO!, we've been getting some more traffic through here. Hopefully, some of you new readers will find something you like and stick around for a while. As always, if you have any comments, suggestions, questions, limericks or just want to give your $0.02 worth, please write me here.

So until next week, gentle readers...peace out.

Did I say that I was going to miss one week? Hmm...I must still be in beach mode. Oh, and I did have a slight problem with my ISP, in that they deleted me for some reason. So, reallt when you look at this, it's not my fault at all....ahem. Yeah, sure.

Anyway, we're back with another update. This time, we've got DC's Trouble Magnet 4 issue miniseries...it's quite good, so check it out in the Reviews Section.

Also, I'm planning a bit of a change in the Quarter Bin section. Originally, I had intended to use it to highlight really good comics and series that could be obtained cheaply. Well, I'm actually running into problems coming up samples of that from my own collection. Certainly, there are a few gems in there, but it's difficult to remember which were bargins. So, instead, I've been thinking about just venturing blindly into the cheapo bins, and taking what comes. The comics found there will be given a 'yeah' or 'nay', depending on their quality. Let me know what you think about this new format...and of course, if you have found some hidden treasures of your own, please let me know here, and I'll be more than happy to highlight them.

Finally, we've finally been picked up by WAHOO! You can check out our listing under the 'What's New' Section.

As always, your comments, questions and suggestions are always welcome. Please write me here. So until next week, keep the faith, baby!

Here's a quick little update...only two comics reviews this time; Realworlds: Batman and Steampunk #1. Actually, I've been fairly disappointed with the comics lately...they just don't seem to have any punch to them. Hopefully, it's just a case of the February blahs and we'll soon go roaring into the summer with some great stories.

Now, don't get all disappointed, but there won't be an update next week, as I'm off to warmer climes for a much needed vacation. Upon my return, however, there will be lots of reviews for your surfing pleasure. Yeah. yeah...I know, missing a week isn't all that rare around here, but at least I'm warning you in advance this time, right? That's gotta count for something...

By the way, if you haven't checked it out yet, you can see Marvel's latest foray into the world of cinema at the X-men movie website. Personally, I'm not too impressed by the trailer. I think Marvel's doomed to repeat their past failures with movies until they get away from trying to produce the next blockbuster...just make a nice, little superhero movie..they have tons of great script ideas in their own archives. Sigh...maybe one day.

Ok, last piece of business is that Flannel Planet has been submitted to the WAHOO! comics database, as you may have noticed from the graphic on the splash screen...hopefully we'll get picked up there soon and get some more traffic.

As always, if you have anything to say, feel free to write me here.

Feb. 29, 2000

God bless leap years! It gives me one extra day to sneak in a new update. This is a small update, but should still be an interesting one. We've got a new addition to the Classic Comics section...one of my all time favorite books; The Watchmen.

So, short but sweet...as always, if you have anything to say, feel free to write me here. Comments and suggestions are always welcome...

Feb. 21, 2000

In this update, we've got four new comics reviewed...sort of. OK, three of them are lumped together, but they still count! We've got the latest issue of Books of Magic and the last few issues of Aquaman.

With the Aquaman comics, I'm trying something new...let me know here if it's any better or worse to review a single issue or several that are part of a single story. As always, your opinions, comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Feb. 14, 2000

Pucker up baby! For this St. Valentine's Day update, we've got three poppin' fresh reviews for you...Daredevil, Hellblazer and Xmen are featured this tiome around.

Also, we've now got half stars! Ok, I know it's not really that exciting, but it does allow a little more flexiblity in the reviews. All the reviews are still done on a 5-star basis...

Well, that's about it for this update. Keep the faith...

Jan. 31, 2000

Well, I managed to squeak in a second batch of reviews for January. This update, we've got 3 more comics to check out...Titans #13, Deadenders #1 and Proposition Player #4.

Still hoping to update more frequently, and with more information. I have some great ideas for this site...all I need now is the time to implement them.

In the meantime, any comments or suggestions or...dare I say it...complaints are greatfully accepted here.

Jan. 26, 2000

Ahem...would you believe Y2K problems? Anyone want to guess what my New Year's resolution is?

Sorry about the huge delay between posts, folks...but we're back with a new crop of reviews. In this long overdue update, we have reviews of Thor, Deathlok and Transmetropolitan.

I did register the site with Yahoo!, but for some reason, it never got picked up in the lists, so I'll have to try again.

That's it for this round...more stuff to follow shortly. Check back again soon.

As always, your comments and suggestions are always welcome here.

Dec. 5, 1999

Yet another update...no new reviews, but lotsa good stuff.

I've finally managed to post something for both the Classic Comics and Quarter Bin sections. As an added bonus, both entries come complete with image galleries. There are also a few additions to the Links page.

A few changes in the workings of the site as well. You may notice that I've changed the name of "Classic Reviews" to "Classic Comics". I feel that this is a better fit to what I'm planning for the section. The fact that I consider certain comics "classics" means that I'm pretty fond of them...which makes the idea of assigning a rating a little redundant. Oh look,...another 5 stars. What a surprise. Also, as far as classics go, I will not be delving too far back into the tomes of comic book history. I simply don't have access to some of the original milestone issues. Instead, I'll be concentrating on fairly recent comics that stand out in the field.

Finally, I've registered Flannel Planet with Yahoo! Hopefully this will bring about some more traffic when it actually gets posted to their lists.

Well, I guess that's about it for now...as always, your comments and suggestions are always welcome here.

Dec. 1, 1999

Wow...two weeks in a row. Well, almost on time, anyways.

In this update, I've added three more reviews; a Superman story and the next two chapters of the X-Men "Apocalypse: The Twelve" storyline. Oh, and I've added these nifty yellow bars to seperate each week's reviews. At the end of each month, the entire lot will be bumped into the Past Reviews section. Yes, I know, officially it's now December, but I had this stuff written in November, so it's staying put.

Actually, for those who are reading this page on a regular basis, I'd like to ask your opinion. With this ongoing "Apocalypse: The Twelve" story of Marvel's, I was planning on looking at all seven chapters and reviewing them all individually. Is this overkill? Would it be more useful (or interesting) to do a single wrap-up review once it's all out? Perhaps a seperate section for ongoing miniseries would be better? Let me know what you think here.

So that's it for this week...and remember that you only have one month left 'till the fall of civilization. Stock up on ammunition now.

Nov. 23, 1999

See? I told you it wouldn't take so long this time.

In this update, I've got three new reviews and a minor change to the links page. Do check out the new GCD (Grand Comics Database) link. It's a huge effort by some dedicated fans and they could use your help.

As always, please feel free to write with any comments, questions or suggestions.

Nov. 12, 1999

Hmmm...that didn't go quite as smoothly as I'd hoped. Honestly, I am planning on updating more than once a month. Let's chalk it up to being new at this whole thing.

So in this long overdue update, I've got three new reviews...some of them are a little stale, but I did want to post something. And there are more on the way...no, really, I mean it this time. Still no additions to the Quarter Bin or the Classics sections, but they are in the works.

OK, so that's about it for now...enjoy. And do please check back.

Oct. 17, 1999

OK, here we go with our first update since launching this site. I've added three new reviews; Tom Strong #5, Iron Man #23 and Birds of Prey #12.

I'm hoping to update both the Quarter Bin and the Classic sections soon, so stay tuned.

Once again, please don't hesitate to give me any suggestions you may have to help improve Flannel Planet. You can write me here.

Oct. 7, 1999

Well, at long last, Flannel Planet is on the air...

This site is going to be dedicated to comics, and should consist largely of reviews of current and classic comics. Hopefully, I'll also be able to include a few extras.

I hope to be able to update about once a week, so check back often. In the mean time, look around...hopefully you'll find something interesting.

Please feel free to write me here with any comments you may have, or if you have any suggestions for comics to spotlight. Thanks...
