Section one: Back to my Family Doctor
On January 10, 2002, I called "reception" of my family doctor to
enquire about the PCR report. The receptionist said she did not
know and had to ask the doctor but did not call me back. So I made
an appointment to see my family doctor for Monday, January 14.
When I asked him whether he had received the PCR report, he said
no but he had contacted them. I had waited sixty-six days for the
official report since the telephone message in November last year. I
asked him whether the telephone message could be regarded as
official report. He said no, because 90 percent of the time, verbal
messages were identical to the official reports but not always. I
suggested getting the report from the Provincial Laboratory. He
said mostly this kind of work were done in the Provincial
Laboratory but the work could be done in some research groups. I
remembered the infectious disease specialist said he was sending the
samples to the Provincial Laboratory. But he said he would call me
when he received the report. Obviously he was not too keen to get it
directly from the Provincial Laboratory but he was unable to advise
me, what to do, before getting the official report.
Section Two: Nature of the Problem
ALS/MND and other incurable diseases now appear to be less of a
scientific or medical problem but more of a political or
administrative problem. Groups of people with different interests
seem to be working against one another. Some people behave in a
very strange way. This is indicating something political, reminding
me of the venomous exchange between two sides about infection as
the cause of chronic diseases in the mid-Nineteen Eighties.
Section Three: My Predicament
I am the one under pressure. I face the probabilities of blindness,
malignant transformation, ALS/MND, high blood-pressure, diabetes
. . . etc.
I seldom used the healthcare system until the year two thousand.
Instead of taking care of me, the system has been fighting me all the
way since August 2000, over the PCR test till now over the report
Perhaps I could enlist the help from the member of provincial
parliament, representing this riding to lobby the provincial minister
of Health to intervene on my behalf. Can the college of physicians
help too?
The blood samples were taken from my earlobes, placed on glass
slides on October 16, 2001 and presumably sent soon afterwards to
the Provincial Laboratory.

e-mail from reader to:
I'm a hospice nurse case manager with the first hospice patient. She
has given me permission to share the first symptom of her disease.
Very healthy all her life, suddenly started running low-grade fever
of 99 degrees for 9 days before the falls started. The malaise was
thought to be viral related at the time. I too, believe strongly in a
viral or bacterial link. Good luck to all involved in search of a cure.
Im very optimistic one will be found this year. Teresa.

another e-mail from the same reader:
We're praying the Gods give you the wisdom to find the missing link
for cure. My patient wants to know if any other PALS had same
symptoms. She is getting very depressed. Have any words of
encouragement?
Reply:
I do not know whether other patients have the same symptoms. But
I expect this sort of thing to happen to some people under certain
conditions. A defective immune system may act up this way if there
is mental or physical stress, intercurrent infection or chemotherapy.
This kind of overreaction can cause damages to various systems. If
there is anything new, I will post it on my web page. Please check
frequently

Dear Ms. Heidgerd:
I am sending you copies of the printed and bound versions of my
two booklets, entitled "An Alternative Approach to AIDS and
Related Problems" and "An Alternative approach to AIDS and
Related Problems: Book 2." The printed and bound versions are
more suitable for research purposes. However the Supplement is
available only in the electronic version on line.
Best Wishes

Section Four: My Letters of Appeals
I sent twelve letters to persons in politics and healthcare, appealing
for resolution of my present problem concerning the PCR report.
Below is a copy of the letter to Mr. Kells, provincial representative
for Etobicoke-Lakeshore.
January 23, 2002
Mr. Morley Kells, MPP
Constituency Office
3481 Lakeshore Blvd. W.
Etobicoke ON
M8W 1N4
Dear Mr. Kells:
This is an appeal for your help.
I believe that many diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's
diseases, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, arthritis, asthma, Crohn's
disease, diabetes, Lyme disease, musculo-skeletal and connective
tissue diseases, lymphoma, cancer (skin, breast, testicular), diseases
of the vascular systems and many others may be related and caused
indirectly by Hansen's bacterium. For theoretical justification,
please read my publications (letters to Editors, two booklets and the
Supplement) enclosed herewith according to its chronological order.
Unfortunately I have developed symptoms similar to those of
ALS/MND and arthritis. I was tested by means of PCR methods,
targeting the DNA of Hansen's bacterium (blood samples taken on
October 16, 2001, at the Tropical Disease Unit, Toronto General
Hospital, University Health Network medical card No. 2870288). I
was told that the result was negative verbally on the phone by the
nurse at the Tropical Disease Unit. My family doctor was supposed
to have received an official report in writing from the Tropical
Disease Unit. But he has been waiting for more than 71 days.
Without the official report, he is unable to advise me, what to do
next. For detail, please see "My Personal Problems: Parts 3 & 4."
I am under pressure because the disease is progressing fast. Could
you use your influence, lobbying the Provincial Minister of Health
to intervene on my behalf, to get me a copy of this report soon from
the Tropical Disease Unit, Toronto General Hospital, or directly
from the Provincial Laboratory, which was supposedly the actual
organization performing the experiment, so that I can show it to my
family doctor? This is my only chance and it may also help those in
the similar predicament. Thank you
Sincerely yours
Ching-Chee Chan
PS: similar letters have also been sent to Tony Clement, Provincial
Minster of Health; Director, Laboratory Services, Province of
Ontario; President, Registrar, Directors of College of Physicians &
Surgeons of Ontario.
The College of physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
regulates the practice of medicine to protect and serve the public
interest as stated on its web site.
My letters of appeal were sent, on January 24, 2002, to Dr. Dody
Bienenstock, President, The Registrar, c/o Investigations and
Resolutions Department, Dr. John Carlisle, Deputy Registrar, Dr.
Blair Ferguson, Professional Enhancement and Education, Dr.
