EOMAC as an Organization
    The Etobicoke Olympium Masters Aquatic Club is an incorporated company under the laws of the province of Ontario. It is a nonprofit organization for the promotion of fitness, fun and fellowship for Masters swimming. EOMAC is governed by an annually elected Board of Directors.

EOMAC and Masters' Swimming Ontario(MSO)
    EOMAC is a registered MSO club. All EOMAC members are individually registered with MSO. You will receive an MSO number and card which are required for competition in all swim meets and as proof of your registration if you wish to swim as a visitor in other clubs anywhere in the world.

Executive meetings are held once a month and are open to all members.

Lane Reps

Your lane has two lane reps who are responsible for the following:

1.Ensure swimmers are paid members.

2.Communicate to lane members and obtain feedback from the lane on:

     -upcoming meets
     -type of workouts
     -club functions and socials
     -workout schedule and cancellations

3.Feedback to coaches and to your board

4.Encourage good lane etiquette

Annual General Meeting and Election of New Board
        The EOMAC annual general meeting is held in October. The election of the new board takes place in the spring allowing the new board to overlap with the old board, making the transition in October easier for everyone.

Membership
        EOMACs capacity is 100 full-time swimmers. A maximum of 10 country club memberships are available for past members who wish to keep involved with the club. Country club members are allowed 10 swims per year. Summer memberships (May thru Aug.) are available at the discretion of the Board of Directors. The membership season starts on September 1 and runs for the full year.

Coaches
        The head coach is : Clifford Barry
Cliff Barry comes to us from a long career in the water, beginning with his own participation in the 1972 and 1976 Olympics on the Canadian Water Polo team. He then proceeded to coach age group swimming, which culminated in being chosen as the head coach for the Canadian Olympic Team in 1984 and 1988. He was chosen Canadian Coach of the Year for 1982, 84 and 86 during which time he coached, among others, Victor Davis and Mike West.

Workout times and Schedules : Check workout calendar on bulletin board for changes:

Regular Workout times:
Sunday 9 - 10:30am
Monday 9 - 10:30pm
Wednesday 6:30 - 8pm
Friday 6:30 - 8pm

Workouts may be canceled or rescheduled due to special events or holidays at the whim of the Olympium. These changes will be announced by the coach and posted on the bulletin board the webpage and in emails.

Pool Etiquette

    Pre-Swim: -try to arrive early
        -do stretches
        -listen to pre-workout talk
        -help with set up, lane rope removal and return of equipment
    Choose a lane: -which matches your pace or level
           -move up or down to adjust to the workout and even up lane numbers
            -ask coach if you are unsure which workout you should do
    Start: -begin the workout together
    Circles: -even lanes swim up the left
           -odd lanes swim up the right
Leaders: -fastest person for the set should lead
        -understand the set, pace time and assure that everyone else does
        -assure the pace time is appropriate for everyone
        -leave 5-10 sec. between swimmers when starting
        -slower swimmers shorten the set (350 for a 400) or change lanes
Overtaking: -touch the slower swimmer's foot
        -the slower swimmer moves over or stops at the wall to allow safe passing
Turns: -move to other side of lane and push off straight
Finishes: -if you have stopped, keep the ends of the lane clear to allow continuing
                swimmers' space to turn
Breaks: -if you come late or take a break, rejoin the set in progress.  Don't start where you left off.
Coaches: Give them constructive feedback.

KEEP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND ENCOURAGE YOUR FELLOW SWIMMERS AND REMEMBER THAT WE COME HERE FOR FUN AND FITNESS AND FELLOWSHIP.

Swim Meets
        Swim meet information and entry forms are posted on the bulletin board. Charlie Lane (Lane 8) is our meet coordinator. Speak with him or any of your board members if you would like to know more about competing. It is one of the ways you can monitor your improvement while making new friends and traveling.

Our Annual Meet
        Our facility is one of the best in Ontario and EOMACs Annual meet is one of the high points in the Masters Swimming Ontario competitive year. You are expected to work at and provide volunteers for this meet. This year we have asked that all members give a post dated cheque for $50.00 to guarantee that they will work the meet. If a member is unable or unwilling to work at the meet the cheque will be deposited.

Social Events
        An evening in October is New Members Night . The first drink is complements of EOMAC.  During the year there are also organized social events such as Hallowe'en Party(October),Christmas Party(near Christmas),Pub Night (Feb., Mar) and Awards Barbeque(June).

Bulletin Board
        The club bulletin board is located in the foyer between the change rooms and the pool deck. Be sure to check this EVERY TIME you come to practice for all kinds of information, great photos of meets and parties, swim meet results and workout time changes.
