SCOUTING REPORT
Last season: Murray got little opportunity with the Sharks, appearing in only 20 regular season games, but started to show his potential in the playoffs. Murray's three points in five games equalled his regular season output. Philadelphia, needing some size on the wings, paid a high price (three players including Alexander Karpovtsev) to land Murray in the off-season.
Scouting report: A big, strong-skating winger works hard on his defence and can be a going concern of offence when he drives to the net and unleashes his howitzer shot. Big and especially talented around the net, Murray is surprisingly quick for a player his size. His wicked wrist shot is his main weapon. Murray has everything needed to succeed in the league--he's a strong skater with great hands and is almost impossible to dislodge from the slot.
What to expect in 2000/01: Murray will get some quality ice time. A future replacement for the aging Gary Roberts, the Flyers like his potential and plan on using him on either the first or second line. That will mean he'll have some talented linemates and he should also get some power play time. Doubling his rookie point totals (14 goals, 26 points) is not out of the question.
