This picture (below) was taken in a coffee shop in Huntsville, ON, just outside of the Park itself. Not only has the trip itself become a tradition but so have certain rituals on the way to the Park, this being one of them. The other is stopping at the McDonald's for our "last meal" before we head into the wilderness. The group, (from left to right), is Dave, Paul, and Jeff.

It's probably about 5 or 6 in the morning here, that's why we look so happy. We cheer up come sunrise. Note our hats. These are what we call our "Bush Hats" and are a necessity for proper Algonquin attire. If you happen to see any other pictures of us, no matter from what year we went, you will notice that we wear pretty much the same thing every year we go. You never really know what might happen to your clothes on the trip, whether they wear out, tear, or just generally get destroyed, but if they make it back chances are they make an appearance the next year.

This was the last lake (above) we had to cross before we ended our trip. Obviously, a much planned pose and not a very good picture, but added to prove a point. Very rare is a shot without our bush hats on. No doubt we forced ourselves to put our packs on strictly for this picture and then took them off again to rest before we actually put them in the canoe. I wouldn't be suprised if the canoe was propped up like that for the effect too. If we could swing it, we'd get a bear to put his arm around Jeff or have Paul petting a wolf or something. All in the name of a good pic.
