At the beginning of the year, each patrol is given 500 merit points. During the year, each patrol is in competition with the other to be the best patrol to earn privledges. At the end of the year the best patrol will get to spend their merit points on patrol items of thier choosing.
The following are ways in which a patrol will loose merit points;
Demerit Points

The following will be deducted from your merit points for uniform items;
Missing Uniform Items
Uniform Shirt
Neckerchief
Woggle
Eppaulette
Sash
Belt
Dark Blue Cargo Uniform Pants
No uniform
Improperly Worn Items

*A Scout must call his Patrol Leader or Assistant Patrol Leader if going to be absent with reason.
** Equipment is due even if a Scout is absent.
The following applies to Patrol and Assistant Patrol Leaders;
- A patrol leader will receive double demerit points.
- A patrol leader or assistant patrol leader will be granted four absences and four late forgiveness or loose his rank. This includes camps.
In addition to de-merit points, Scouts risk being sent home or suspended for repeat offences.
Merit Points
The following will be awarded to your merit points;
A patrol with full attendance at Camp
A patrol with full attendance at an Event
A patrol with full attendance at a Meeting
