EXPANSION HEADQUARTERS Welcome to the PMNHL Expansion Headquarters. Here you'll find everything you need to know in regards to applying for an expansion franchise for the 1999-2000 season. What You Include in your Application for '99-'00
Your team must be based in a city, or region. But it just can't be anywhere. Presently there are two divisions in the PMNHL. One which is based in North America, the other in Europe. We encourage teams to start up in different areas of these two divisions, but remember, it must be a city or region that deserves to house a pro franchise. A small town with no population won't be given a franchise for obvious financial reasons. Example: Vancouver, British Columbia. Canada. Once you have selected a location of your franchise, it must be given a name. Nothing offensive or overly silly will be accepted of course, as you are attempting to enter a professional league. In this day and age of marketing, catchy names and logos are the hot trend, but traditional names can be just as sucessful. Example: Vancouver Vikings A breif description is all that is needed for this. We will not ask anyone to spend time and effort designing a uniform and logo since acceptance is not gaurenteed. Breifly state your teams colours, describe the logo quickly, and the uniform design. If you are accepted, you can polish things up to your liking. Example: Black, Orange, Red, White. Logo: Viking Hammer in Motion Uniform: Away base colour of black. Name your major sponsor. Pick one that compliments your franchise, and is a relavent member of the community your team will be in. Plus, try to be original with your choice. Also, your major sponsor will likely be in the name of your arena, so choose it wisely. This is the home of franchise. A breif description and the name of your arena is needed, including seating capacity. For smaller market teams, smaller capacity is needed and less private boxes of course. You may also choose to move into an old arena that is already in place where you're expanding. No team may move into an established NHL arena, however if an NHL team has recently left a city, that arena is probably willing to offer you a lease. Example: Winnipeg Bison - Home Arena: The Winnipeg Arena Here's where you sell yourself to the league. Simply state why you feel we should choose you over another application. Last season there were several applications that could have been accepted into the league, but we only have room for so many. So, tell us why to accept you and what your franchise will help the league grow, and how you'll manage be competative in your first season with the PMNHL. |
