THE HARRYVILLE HAZARD... CHAMPIONS AGAIN!
Harryville Hazard have won their 4th McCartney Cup. Following several re-counts, and delays, the
Hazard have been awarded the McCartney Cup. The PMNHL hired a third party to count up the final
series between the Harryville Hazard and the Kingston Scout Marauders, with the final score
being 48.50 to 47.75, easily the closest McCartney Cup Final in history.
IT'S McCARTNEY vs McCARTNEY IN THE 2001 McCARTNEY CUP CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL!
The Kingston Scout Marauders (Owner & GM John P. McCartney), will be taking on the 3-time McCartney
Cup Champion Harryville Hazard (Owner & GM Tom McCartney) in this year's McCartney Cup Championship
Final. It's two of the top PMNHL Franchises going head-to-head, as Kingston and Harryville finished
1st and 3rd respectively during the regular season. The Harryville Hazard (McCartney Cup Champions
in 1994, 1995, 1998) upset the London Fire in the opening round of the playoffs - then defeated
the Tel Aviv Titans in the United Nations Conference Final. The Scout Marauders narrowly edged
out a victory in their first round series with the Brandon Blades - then defeated the Beverly
Hills Boilermakers in the Maple-Stars Conference Final.
THREE UPSETS HILIGHT THE OPENING ROUND OF THE PMNHL McCARTNEY CUP PLAYOFFS
The opening round of the 2001 McCartney Cup Playoffs was hilighted by 3-of-the-4 series ending
in an upset. In the closest battle of the week, the TEL AVIV TITANS have captured the ALL-WORLD
DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP, by defeating the Iceland IceBears by only 2.50-points. Heading into the
final day (Sunday), the Titans were holding onto a 0.25-point lead, and managed to hold on to
advance into the Confernce Championship. Their opponent? The HARRYVILLE HAZARD. The 3-time
McCartney Cup Champions defeated the favoured London Fire in the All-Britan Championship
Final. In the Maple-Stars conference, the BEVERLY HILLS BOILERMAKERS upset the Albany Wolfwoods
Warriors, and will face the Kingston Scout Marauders in the MAPLE-STARS CONFERNCE CHAMPIONSHIP.
