HONOURED PLAYERS

#66 MARIO LEMIEUX
"The Magnificent One" only played 1-season in a Scout Marauder, but it was a memorable one. Lemieux set a single season franchise scoring record in the 1996-1997 season with 165.25 PTS, a record that stills stands today. At the conclusion of the season, after battling back from cancer, and failing in his attempt to bring a McCartney Cup to Kingston, Lemieux retired from professional hockey. His number 66 was hung from the rafters of the Imperial Palace on the opening day of the 1997-1998 season.

About the Scout Marauders Hockey Club

  • Why a Franchise in Kingston?
We decide to start our franchise in the great city of Kingston for many reasons. There is a sufficent population base to support the franchise, the people love the game of hockey as is aparent in their support of the Kingston Frontenacs, and they have the facilities to house our franchise and visiting franchhises in place. We constructed our arena in the downtown area close to the waterfront for a picturesque setting and an area for our fans to meet and prepare for upcomming matchup.

  • What is a Scout Marauder?
A Scout Marauder is a model of a spaceship. Much like the United States of America's Space Shuttle, the Scout Marauder can preform a multitude of task such as simple research tasks, and is equipped with weapons for combat. It is has a sleek design and a very quick, can accelerate extremely quickly, but carries enough firepower to disable other vessels close to it.

  • How did we develop the logo/colour scheme?
After we decided on our nickname, and that decision was made for many reasons. Most of the reasons are listed above in the characteristics of a Scout Marauder, once that was finalized, we needed a colour scheme. We wanted to stay away from Red-Blue-White as our base colours as we wanted a separate identity from the Frontenacs. Royal Purple and Gold hilighted by a black trim we felt made for a stunning combination.

  • The Imperial Palace
It has been given the appropriate nickname "The Solar Sys-Dome" because of our team logo name and colours, and also because of it's design. The official name of course is derived from our main sponsor, proud Canadian company Imperial Oil. More familiar to most of you as "Esso Gas/Service Stations" and "Mr. Lube". Our arena is very large, and although we do not sell-out each and every night, the extra seats are easily filled during key games and during the stretch drive and the playoffs. During the off season between '96-'97 & '97-'98 seasons, we will be renovation the interior of the palace. The renovations will bring the general seating capacity down, and more luxury boxes in key areas will be in place.
Officially Launched March 19th, 1997 - 5:34pm ** Logo TradeMark of the PMNHL
