St. Michael's Leads Best-of-7 Series 1-0
In a nasty start to the OHA playoffs, the St. Michael's Buzzers took a 1-game to nothing lead on the Pickering Panthers. The Panthers got a goal from BRENT CHANDLER in the 2nd Period, but despite playing solid for 40-minutes, they found themselves down 4-1. The 2nd period was marred by an ugly incident. After an altercation at the St. Michael's bench, a Panther helmet was pulled over the boards. After several minutes the helmet was thrown back onto the ice by the Buzzers, damaged beyond repair and assaulted in another manner. Panther officials witnessed the incident from a clear vantage point close to the Buzzers bench, but wished not to comment on exactly what happened. In doing so, they hope to keep the focus on the ice, and the games ahead. The game eneded with another spirited altercation involving all the players on the ice, setting the tone for game-two Sunday night in Toronto.
