Born February 9th, 1928, Frank Frazetta's formal training consisted of eight years at the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Michael Falanga. By sixteen, Frazetta was doing professional work for various comic book houses, including creating his own strips. But it was his full color work on covers for paperbound science fiction and fantasy, and his strong identification with the novels of Edgar Rice Burroughs, which won him a reputation unique in "commercial" art. His paintings are famous for their sensuous vitality and dramatic composition. |
