(Wo)man in the Moon

(Wo)Man in the Moon is ultimately from the imagination of one individual, however, most of the works are derived from photographs of four individuals in a variety of poses. The contour of the face versus the contour of the land around us intrigues me; the man (or woman) in the moon. The state of mind which the individual was in while being photographed, the photographer (me), later the painter (me), all help to set the mood of the work with their specific interpretation. This was an exercise in simplicity using the negative and positive spaces within the photographed images of two men and two women. Creating landscapes that ultimately have very little resemblance to the human form but remind us of . . . something familiar.
