Calculation of the Geometric MeanThe geometric mean is the square root of the product of the anterior and posterior counts. Geometric Mean = square root (anterior counts x posterior counts) For example, assume the anterior counts collected for an image taken one minute after the patient finished consuming the standard meal were 102 764 cpm while the corresponding posterior counts collected were 128 842 cpm. The geometric mean is calculated as: Geometric
Mean = sqrt (102 764 x 128 842)
