                  Hospital

Whitby Psychiatric Hospital opened their doors in 1913 and closed their doors for the last time in 1996. Throughout its history, it was home to many different people: doctors, nurses, staff members, family members of staff, soldiers of WW1 and many psychiatric patients.
Even though the buildings are abandoned and the patients have left, the stories still remain. These stories are tales of happy times and even some sad times.

Nancy Doughty is trying to resurrect some of the stories and experiences that were a part of the walls of the old Whitby Psychiatric Hospital.

Perhaps some of these pictures triggered memories that you have of the hospital. Perhaps you were employed at the hospital, or were a patient under their care.

Whatever your experiences were, Nancy would appreciate knowing.

Please write to her at nellie272003@yahoo.com and let her continue to retell the stories of the old Whitby Psychiatric Hospital.
If you have family members who were once patients of the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital, and would like to find out how you can retreieve these files, please contact Nancy.Confidentiality will be insured.
