Hanging from a wall in my grade seven art teacher's classroom, was a mask woven with Jute. As soon I saw it, I had to learn how to make it. After a little coaxing, Mr. Stumm agreed to show me how to weave my first mask. And so began my love affair with masks. For the past 10 years, I have been experimenting with and producing both woven and papier maché masks. What started out as a hobby, has now become the focus of my life. However, like many crafters, I need a day job to sustain my existence. This means I can't spend as much time as I'd like experimenting and perfecting my craft. However, if I am able to share what I have accomplished with people who love masks, I will be a satisfied artist.
