You don't state your ages, which I'm sure will play a big part in how receptive your parents are. Still, two years is not a huge gap. Your idea to have him go over and meet with your parents is a good one, as they will see how the two of you interact. They will also get to know him as a person. I would strongly urge you to talk to your mother and find out specifically what is triggering her anger. Perhaps it is something you're not at all aware of.
