EATING DISORDERS:
Anorexia Nervosa
Lily 17, stands 5'4" and weighs less than 100 pounds. She hides herself in baggy jeans and layered tops. Lily sees herself as ugly, short, and fat. As well, she hates her "Asian" eyes. She is angry with her parents because they don't have the money to pay for an operation to make them look more Caucasian. Lily also confesses that she has been stealing Pepto Bismo from the convenience store she works at part-time to deal with her weight problem.
Anorexia Nervosa is an eating disorder. Like Lily, many people suffering from Anorexia are extremely sensitive about their weight. People suffering from Anorexia may engage in excessive dieting and exercising, starvation, self-induced vomiting, and abuse of laxatives or diet pills.
Bulimia Nervosa
Lily occasionally goes on "binge-purge" episodes where she will eat everything she sees at once and then forces herself to vomit.
A range of emotional and psychological factors surround individuals
suffering from these disorders including stress, depression, and low self-esteem.
Anorexia and Bulimia are very complicated disorders. If you or anyone you
