to be an exciting event. A link is provided below.
In an effort to raise money to host this event, I am
asking that all chessplayers attend an Active
CFC rated tournament this
Sunday,
September 9 at the Dunn Building, 440 Elgin Street in
Brantford.
Please try to attend. The event will be a 5 round Swiss,
sections to depend on entries. All proceeds will go
towards the match. Cost will be $25 for all players.
Kevin Spraggett will be in attendance as well! Your prize
will be the knowledge that you helped support this
historic match. The doors will open at 12 noon, first
round to begin at 1 p.m. CFC membership is required, and
can be purchased/renewed at the site. Please bring sets,
boards, and clocks. It is cash only at the site. This is your
chance to contribute directly to Canadian Chess History.
If you really want to support our top players, now
is the time. We know this is short notice,
but due to the F.I.D.E. deadline, we are left with
few alternatives. Donations can also be made at the site
in return for a tax receipt (to be issued by the CFC at a
later date). If you can't attend this event, you
can still make your donation directly to the CFC,
with your instructions that it be used to support this
match. Now is the time to show your
support. Get the plastic out and use it! If
you would like to enter in advance, the only way is to
attend our club this Thursday evening (tonight) at the
Dunn Building. Doors open at 7 p.m. Come on out to play
and pay! If you can't make it out to the club, please
show up on Sunday, and register then. There will be no
late fee. I urge each and everyone to attend this fund
raiser. Pass this along to everyone who plays and spread
the word. Lets show our elite players the respect they
deserve, and enjoy ourselves at the same time. Yours
in Chess,Tony Ficzere ps:
I challenge any other clubs in the country to do the same
thing. Host your fundraiser A.S.A.P.
