Ochkoos tied for first place to win $125 each in the 39-player
$900. New Year's Active, played in 3 sections at the Dutton Chess
Club on Bayview. The Under 2200 Experts Prize was shared by 3
players - Warren Dutton, Richard Ruiz and Steven MacLeod, with
all 3 players winning $50. each.

Amanda Benggawan - Under 2000 Champion
The 16-player Section II (Rated 1600-2000) was topped by Amanda Benggawan with 4.5 to win $100 while Marina Bryskine and Arnie Lucki shared the $50 second prize. The Under 1800 Class Prize was shared by Philip Haley and Brian MacLeod who won $75 apiece for their 4-2 results.

The 11-player Section III (Under 1600) was dominated by Alexandra Benggawan who won $75. first, while Lea Urbanc and Alina Sviridovitch shared the $50 second prize with 4-2 scores. Three players including juniors Tavish Armstrong and David Hier as well as senior Anthony Seljak shared the Under 1400 class prize. The next ACTIVE event will take place at DCC on FEBRUARY 24, 2001 - 11TH February Active - 12 Noon.
